No deer skin !

Although I have the Tanner asset (in the Hunting skill), I can not peel and recover the red deer skins. I get hare skin when I search a hare that I just killed, but it does not work for deer.

On the deer I just killed, I only get the meat but not the skin !

Do you have the same problem as me ?

Yes, you need a skill in hunting: Tanner (Skinning).

Do not we get the deer skin automatically when we have this asset ?

Thanks to this skill I now get the hare skin that I did not get without this skill (Tanner / Skinning).

But it does not work on deer. Why ? Is this another bug ?

Not sure what your malfunction is, but you got your answer.

the higher the hunting skill, the higher chance you get skin/hide...

in the beginning, its not guaranteed...

Indeed, the cutting of the game (venison) does not always offer a skin.

I was lucky when I killed several hares in a row that gave me each time a skin, but then, later, I had hares without obtaining skin.

It probably does get 100% (or very close to it) as Hunting continues to level up. I don't know that for sure, just a guess. I just know it's been a while since I didn't get a skin. Hunting at 11.

obtw...other than the other benefits, that Forester perk alone is worth leveling Hunting up to at least 10. Since vast majority of the bad-guy camps are in the woods.
