Prices keep rising
For the second time I’ve seen the prices of vendors items rise. My status hasn’t changed or anything. Is this part of the original game or is one of my mods messing with it?

Are you by chance haggeling and failing to reach a consensus?

No. I haggle all the time but always come to an agreement.

Your rep lowers when you haggle in your favor. Lower rep with the merchant = higher prices. Try doin it in the other direction and give them a small tip on transaction.

They do seem quite pleased when you throw a little extra in.

^^^ That... you want good rep with merchants... haggle, even for one small thing at a time and INCREASE the price you pay even a small amount (the more the better)... they'll be bending over backwards to give you deals before long...

Nope. Giving them 100 or .1 gives the same bump in Rep.

I’ve been giving a bit extra here and there, maybe not enough. But even miller Woyzeck raised his prices and I’ve never even bought or sold anything to him.

I think the problem you are talking about might not neccesarily have much to do with rep. I have and have had really high rep with traders and everyone else in rattay for that matter ( in the mid 90's). I noticed a hike in prices when my relative wealth increased overnight. I went from 25k groschen to 90k after bruglarizing the tiiiits off every major town (without getting caught). When my wealth was at 25k prices for good armor/ weapons would be 1-2k. now that I have all this money they are worth 4-5k. PS i dont have any econ mods.

There is no point in haggling in my opinion, unless it's with a merchant, for a specific expensive item and you don't plan to do many more dealings with the trader, like if you want to buy the best horse with all accessories for example. High trader rep can greatly improve selling prices, so rep is way more precious than a few haggled profit from any one dealing.

Yeah I went from about 150 to 320 groschen and that’s when I noticed the prices doubled.

they way I see it, everything Im hauling in is all profit anyway, so if tossing the merchant a little bit off the topwill raise my rep and increase his coffers for my next visit, thats just win win

Does either direction, tipping or haggling for a little less in price help the same at increasing your Speech skill?

Unless of course you take the Perk that increases your speech skill every time you haggle... ;)

Haggling certainly increases it, I've at least seen it happen during the Skalitz tutorial. I thought there was a talent under speech for it (Silver Tongued), so it might be a bug.

As for raising, I can't say. I would assume yes, as with any interaction. Really should be easy to test.
