I agree it does not promote religion. It is funny how the only people even close to what a christian should be, are considered heratics. I will leave that for you to find which quest that is =) then you will see why I said that.
christianity is depicted as a huge part of every day life as it was but your own character need not be...there are also a number of npc's who dont dont give a ♥♥♥♥ about church...
there are both good and evil characters clergy or lay...i was a bit concerned with the titlle (kingdom come deliverance) before release...but you dont need to worry about that in the slightest...the discussion on the religion aspect is quite historically accurate (bohemia was going to be plagued by religious wars soon and it is somewhat hinted in game)...and there is nothing about religious propaganda...
