i picked highborn personally. Nobles not like plebs. it was pretty hard to convince them at early game for me.

Who cares what the hoi polloi think :)

I'd say highborn. Peasants are normally easily convinced by your looks alone (when you are all clean and knightish and stuff). On the other hand rich dudes rely on speech a bit more.

Highborn, because nobles are supposed to have high speech, commoners don't.

i dont think min/maxing is important in this game, considering this forum you get pretty OP anyway later on so i'd probably stick to what makes more sense from a roleplay perspective and go with lowborn

I cant tell you which one is better though but what the other people say makes sense

neither, save the perk so you can get Empathetic and Troubadour at the same time. i just feel those two give more bang for the buck.

I chose lowborn simply because I figured that I'd be interacting with peasants a lot more than the nobility. And I also figure, from a "game mechanics" point, that most of the nobles I talk to are going to be bossing me around anyway so it probably doesn't matter if I can con them. Besides: conning peasants, which I meet a lot more of, raises my speech skill. So by the time I'm rubbing elbows with the gentry my speech skill will be high enough that the bonus from Highborn won't matter much anyway.

lowborn, you dont need any of them anyway but i think lowborn gives a little help early on.

I agree.

For me Highborn,a lot of play time in the villages.

I've found Highborn to be most useful of the two if you use speech skill a lot, simply because common people generally have lower speech checks so you'll pass their check anyway. In SOME circumstances lowborn will be useful. However, if you don't play a heavily speech-oriented character, saving the point for later perks (as someone mentioned above) is preferred.

Yeah, you don't really spend enough time talking to people for it to matter. And the times you DO talk to people, they usually have double digits against the option that your Speech actually effects

This question is from last March. The 'neither' guy was most correct imo. Check back next March for the epic conclusion of 'which perk is better'

As many have said it doesnt really matter but i chose lowborn for the simple reason that Henry IS considered low born for the majority of the game. So from a RP perspective it just makes sense. You dont need to hold back on perks to get 2 of the next ones though as there are "between" levels before every step up where you can go back for any you fancied and missed. I DID hold back on vitality though as there appeared to be no advantage to either of the running perks. The same goes for any of the stamina trade off perks imo.

I won !
3 months after March. But 2022.
And yes, I agree to the saving option!... Now, I go back to this wonderful game, still largely played 4 years later and it is far from necro (games felt into Oblivion, with 0 search on it)...
:steammocking:
It is not a fast-food-take-away game, and happy to have found some threads with infos, and happy to say thank you.
Next, another answer, after March , say, 2024 ?

Highborn to match the RP.
