get better bow, str, archery skill and better arrows and you can one hit them/anything ^^

I mean, Henry himself said to Capon that it's a bad idea to hunt boars with arrows... Still if you use a strong bow with wounding arrows (which have slashing damage, not piercing) it's possible to one-two shot them. Or just get a longsword/polearm and poke them from your horse

I tried hunting boar recently. After toying around with the bow for a bit, I decided to go after them with a longsword, which worked way better. You might want to go light on the armor and carry load though, makes you run faster. For one boar I needed 3 arrows and about 4 stabs from the sword, the other was 5 arrows and 2 stabs. And I used wounding arrows until I ran out. Most animals in this game can't outrun you (even if they should be able to). Deer and stags and such can also be sprinted after and killed in melee. The trick is to get really close and then stab, as henry can't run and stab at the same time, so he will loose some distance in the process of stabbing. Rabbits though are best killed with a bow.

In the hunting quest at the start Henry says you cannot hunt them with a bow you need spears. Get your strength up, get a better bow, use better arrows. I can 1 shot them and could long before I got my bow to the current level of 10.

Last boar I killed with Ash bow took 3 arrows. Not great shots; 2 rump ones anyway. Seems reasonable given my meh rating in bows and general inability to hit barns (which is oddly fun, having played with bows myself).

I was killing them in one shot from go. Reckon your strength is a major factor on penetrating the hide. Just like the logs mentioned earlier in the thread.

I have a spear currently in my inventory, first pole arm I've found that I've actually been able to 'store.' Can't put it in my horse's inventory, though.

in reality you gotta hit skull of a wild boar to stop it. i love how tanky they coded the boars. some of them even tank up to 15 arrows until they bleed to death. a good way to level archery since they re slow.
