Miracles While You Wait- can't take the shroud

All I can find online regarding this quest is the bug where you can't give it to the Chatlaton at night. But how do you actually get the shroud in the first place? I managed to convince the son to give it to me but when I take it he calls the guards. I saw a guide where it said I can tell the son I'm a long lost nephew but I don't get the option despite having talked to everyone in town about the dead guy. Anyone know a walk around short of knocking the son out?

I know there's a way to wait until he's buried and then dig him up but I was hoping to just get it. I've been pretty patient with this game but it's bugs like this that are starting to make not want to play it. Or recommend it.

So...I snuck in and knocked out the nephew or whoever...then looted the corpse. Then killed the guy who wasnt dead because im sick like that.

I found it easy to just talk to him to have permission to be in room, then just jump over body and hide next to it in corner. Stealing is easy at that point.

Posing as a cousin is the option for the other son, you should try that (the son you were arguing with also did not work properly for me, going for the other one solved the issue).

Which son holds vigil seems to depend on the time of day.

Of course you still need to swipe the shroud when he is not looking but there are pretty solid opportunities with that one for swiping.

This actually worked for me just now. I smooth talked the son into letting me take the shroud and then jumped over the body, ducked down, grabbed it and then walked away.

well..... i found a major bug for this one the shroud isnt there to loot so im just waiting for the man to be buried so i can go grave robbing. hoping it might appear

The "shroud" is just the corpse's clothing, I can't remember but it's not actually called a shroud when you view the contents of the corpse.

EDIT : If the Charlatan asked us to loot a magic apple from a chest and the chest only contained an orange, take the orange and the man will convince people that it's really an apple ... a magically apple indeed! .... It's so magical that it doesn't even look like an apple!

No matter which way I pick the shroud up the objective doesn't get updated...bugged pos
update: I was able to get it updated after the game relaunch and waiting for 4 in-game days in a row until the corpse got buried...
