I'm repeatedly getting a "quest failed" notification after the prompt to WAIT till evening. I heard this quest was time sensitive, but if that were the case, why did it only fail when I tried to complete it? Does anyone have any news on whether this is the result of a bug? Any workarounds?

What failed?

1. Find the cross, talk to the priest, use ladder outside of the house to enter the attic, after the cutscene talk to the women and persuade her to leave.
Return to Sir Hanush, save game then tell him you helped them escape. :D
Load it back but this time don't tell him you helped, just that they're gone.
Or if you need blood&gore solution...

2. Kill vicar and his bodyguards.

There is a workaround. If you are unable to load a previous save, instead of waiting, you can locate the vicar and murder him (as said above)

I prefer the pacifict approach for this particular quest but sometimes they force your hand with a time limit...

Geez don't wait. The cutscene in the attic will trigger regardless of time you enter it. Just go upstairs and move to the hole.

Not sure how many more immersion breaking cutscenes I can take........ Thought devs new better than to make this big mistake....... 'tis their first title....hope they learned their lesson. It took some of the top devs 10+ years to figure it out. Make a movie or a game....but pick one or the other.
I did trigger the cutscene and the "quest failed" message appeared right after the countdown. Was trying to refrain from spoilers but oh well...

Edit: Yes, I climbed up the to the attic and triggered the wait (not the manual time skip) cutscene. And immediately after it, QUEST FAILED. Then I head outside and see Lady Bauer and another villager walking back toward the house. This makes me wonder if they were even in the house to begin with. Hmm...

you need to go attic from outside with ladder and advance time to roughly midnight . dont worry. when cutscenes kick in this game they do cancel waiting if you re in quest zone.

i cant help any otherway if you done this and still its failing / should be a bug. try rerolling back to start of quest. it must have said after getting quest from sir hanush.

Yeh to all the people nopt understanding the issue, I am having the same one:

We go in threw said window, there is the ingame voice line promt to wait to trigger the cut scene, the time passes to 21:00, and the quest fails. In the House, Above the kitchen where the cut scene should be happening the quest fails.

The question I and the OP need is; Is this a known bug and is a workaround for it known??
I ended up just shooting the Vicar down with an arrow from afar because that was the only way to not fail the quest.

Well I want to know if there is a better way to solve the bug before I murder a member the church
Only other thing I can think of is waiting for a patch to drop, that hopefully addresses the issue.

If it makes you feel better, I've got the same issue. Whenever I trigger the wait command, the quest fails.

Conisdering just AFKing up there for a while and see if that works. Wonder if there's a hard limit of days passed for the quest and we're each just on the last day or something.

Same thing here, creep to attic, prompts to wait, wait, quest fails.

To those of you who are failing this quest on waiting in the attic. Just for clarification, are you pressing 'E' to wait, as prompted, or 'T'?

Worked it out. reloaded the first save after finding the grove and completed it fine. I think the previous problem arises from blowing an allocated time limit.

Again Thats totally unclear so we can only guess why we fail it when we are THERE. We Press 'E' not T to wait as Promted.

I have tried the reload save method and not had any success I will try it again soon but yeh, I can't confirm it works or not but it hasnt worked when I tried it.
