I took 3 weeks to explore after completing the Timmy mission. The latter part of the timmy mission is timed so complete it before exploring.
I am playing a good Henry and had a decent speech skill so I wnet another route in that quest because I was not strong enough to take anbody on at that point.
(I think the next mission is next of vipers) Like i have already indicated I took threwe weeks beofre doing the fist objective in Nest of Vipers.
I absolutely hate Hate HATE being pushed along by in-game time limited main storyline quests forcing a rushed pace, feeling always behind the clolck, skipping side quests, avoiding exploring and as you felt under powered and just scapping by. Not saying those mechanics are universally wrong, it's just the exact opposite of the type of player I am and frustrates me personally to no end.
I reloaded a save just prior to talking to Sir Raditz for the first time in Rattay. Henry took up poaching, treasure hunting, and assisting the good folk as a soldier of fortune. I've gotten a bit carried away and now have well over 10,000 coin, all armor and weapons Noble or better, Warhorse Jenda with top tier kit, most stats and skills reaching reaching about 10 or better. Without being able to train with Captain Bernard training Defense seems to be mostly non-existant - but that makes sense for my rogue-kight, he's all offense and guerrilla tactics.
If a message pops up that the kingdom has fallen to the Cuman's - so be it. I'm enjoying the game on my terms.
Thanks - that sums me up exactly. I want to go at my own pace and hate being pushed along I can't stand games that constantly push you in one direction. I am liking the game a lot but also don't like feeling under powered and the combat is frankly irritating at this time. I am basically running away from everyone using the horse and firing hunting arrows at people till they fall over. I also don't like scrapping by in fights and would rather play as "Dragon Born" than illiterate peasant...but that is just me.
I think I'm going to finish this annoying Timmy mission then I'm going to try "power levelling" and going off on my own. The much discussed save limitations are driving me loopy as well.
Cheers for the advice.
The beginning quests give you that since of urgency for rp purposes. The only time i went and straight completed a section of the main quest was running to speak to Timmy at the end of the finding Timmy quest.
I have had no problems with the main quests failing or people not being where tney need to be. I just completed Questions and Answers and made sure I ran and spoke to Ra to complete that before completing Pestilence side quest..just because of reports of bugs if you complete the pestilence side quest before completing Questions and Answers.
I am now exploring etc before I head to the objective for All That Glisters.
I do not think it is the main quests you have to worry about so much as Side quests being timed etc.
