Ginger in the Pickle - How to kill the 2 Bandits !?
Hi there!

I'am following the main quest "Ginger in the Pickle" and desperately tried 20 times in a row with a save to kill both bandits but it is not possible. Every time i kill one bandit sleeping the other one hits me twice and i'am gone. This is really getting frustrating and no more fun. I tried several combinations of Bow and Sword, with or without a horse, at day & night. Nothing works. One bandit kills me, game over. What shall i do? I cant continue playing KCD at the moment :-(

Is it maybe possible to set the main quest aside and do something else to level up?
I somewhere read on reddit you should not go on your own tracks before you finished the Neuhoff main quest. But i'am not sure if thats right.

For any help i'am thankful, because now i have no idea how to continue the game. Tyring 20 times again to kill these damn bandits wont work.

Thx,

Manuel

I wondered off and began ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around like immediately after killing these bandits and I had thought the one bandit was suspiciously skilled. One of Runts ♥♥♥♥♥ I bet.

There's a rock South? of their camp. Climb on top of that and shoot an arrow or two at them so they come and try to climb the rock and fail. Then you can trivially make them into pincushions even if you couldn't shoot straight.

What do you think "bandits" are?

They are a mix of peasants, soldiers, experienced men at arms, hedge knights and many other flavours of men who have chosen to turn to theivery/murder/'service for coin'. Their quality of skill and equipment will vary from 'Drunk' all the way to full harness and decades of experience in war.

These two are indifferent and average - far in excess of a 'basic Henry', but not nearly the match for Rattay soldiers or the like.

He is definitely the one you want to take out with the stealth or arrow opener for the fight. His light armor (and probably perk also) make him a formidable opponent, who counter-attacks quite frequently.

I ended up running into them before I found Ginger; I saw the camp on the map and just decided to check it out on the way to finding Ginger. I talked to them and they told me they were also looking for him. I tried every dialog option hoping it would trigger a fight but nothing worked and they just walked away and sat back by the fire. As the one I was talking to turned I stabbed him in the back and then killed the other one before he could stand. Nothing bad happened and I was able to complete the quest relatively easily.

Just get a sword & stick them with the pointy end until the red water flows

I had a little trouble with these two guys as well. As far as I remember there is one with a sword, who is fairly skilled, and one with an axe, that is not entirely as skilled. I tried for a bit to sneak up and snipe them with a bow, but that might take quite a few hits unless you do a good headshot. In the end I sneaked close during broad daylight, sprinted the last bit and could murder the more skilled one before he could draw his weapon. The dude with the axe was managable, although I did get hurt. But I think if you get into stealth gear and approach during the night, you can get close and murder both dudes before they can get into action. Get a good weapon, one with high damage, and just start smashing away while they sleep, don't bother with knockout or such, unless you can really assassinate them. If you want, you can also do this without combat. Just look up a nice poison recipe on the internet, cook it, sneak into their camp at night, poison their food, and return a day or so later. You can actually cook alchemy without the pricey ingame recipe. I think there is something called potion of doom or something, I'd recommend you try that if you want to go the poisoner route.

Just as an FYI to the main poster. I picked up the Ginger In A Pickle quest well over a week ago. I am supposed to be looking for the charcoal burners camp, but I went off and have been doing my own thing for probably 20 plus hours now.

I did run into those two guys and ended up running from them but I have a feeling, that now that I have more levels, better stats, better weapons and armor that I could beat them.

It is possible to fight him! I just managed to kill him without all that training and I managed it using a sword and shield, simply block everytime he attacks and stab right after, do not go on the offensive! Eventually you'll tire him out to when he surrenders, this took me about 8 minutes

How can they create a game with such poor combat? Any single grown person can pick up a club and bash someone's brains in. But for some reason, Henry is utterly incapable of doing damage or defending himself. It's otherwise a great game so why mess it up with such lackluster combat? It's slow and imprecise. Every swing takes one-two seconds to initiate and by then it has missed its mark. Warhorse really failed with this one.

Or just git gud. Those two bandits were ridiculously easy

Actually, how long swings take and so on is heavily dependent on the rpg skills. Once Henry is trained up and properly equipped, he can take out whole bandit camps quite easily. With this quest you may not yet be trained properly depending on how you play, hence the trouble.
I actually think warhorse did an excellent job at making your stats matter as well as your player skills and the game gives you opportunities to train both.

Go back to Barnard and tell him your progress he will send an escort guard with you. Hide in the bushes until one comes to get you let the guard fight him he will kill him you can finish him off the guard will run back to Barnard to get help. Its kind of funny you finish off the other loot them and head back passing Barnard on the way with his guards in pursuit

I think you guys are talking about two different things? Maybe I am wrong but Bernard helps you when you first find that bandit that is wounded and dying so you don't ever fight him.

The other one with him will knife him so your final option is to fight the one that is still alive.

So you only have to fight one and if your not good enough to beat him then yes you can go and tell Bernard and he and his men will kill him for you and that is what I had to do for Merciful.

However, if you are talking about the two bandits at that little hunting camp that are also looking for Ginger then I have no idea how Bernard would help you, that is bull.

From what I know you have two options. One is, you can lie to Gingers friends that are protecting him and say you already killed them and they will tell you were Ginger is then you can talk to Ginger and he will be afraid and you can tell him the same lie and then tell him to go back and see what happens and the quest will move forward. The other option is to kill them.

If your having a hard time with that try to hit and run or do stealth. You must have a horse by this time stay on it run around and shoot arrows at them you do not have to be level 20 in anything to do that. Once I get a horse it's OP and unless they knock me off my horse and get around me I rule.

Recently, I just did it and I raided them at night and both were sleeping and when they woke up they were wearing their undies and just used their fists to fight me so with my sword it was easy to kill them both. I was only level 5 so I don't think you need to be level 17-20 that is OP. Sure when you get to the mill you can fool around and grind and level up greatly which will take some of the fun away from the challenge before you even do the first main quest and even with all that xp without the training you won't know all the tricks.

"However, if you are talking about the two bandits at that little hunting camp that are also looking for Ginger then I have no idea how Bernard would help you, that is bull." << Bernard doesn't help but he sends an escort with Henry.
Thats exactly how it went . If you found the camp with 2 bandits and fought them yourself well then the rest is explained for us who did go back and Henry reports it to Bernard who then will send a grumbling guard to go with Henry to the camp where the 2 bandits are.
So dont say its bull that's like saying I'm lying.
Annoying that is when we just sharing what we did . You should know that everyone plays different and has different outcomes based on our actions.
