This game with an xbox controller?
Hey,

Dont fancy war 10001, I love my pc gaming but i have a deep hatred for using a keyboard and mouse for this sort of game. I won't be convinced otherwise so don't try and turn me, im a product of the console gaming and know enough to know the M&K is superior but I feel comfortable with a controller and dont play compettively anyway so trying to turn me is going to be futile.

However, I really want to get this game on PC but for above reasons the deciding factor is how does this game run on a controller on the PC? Is it easily mapped? Any bad latency? Is it going to respond well? Id hate to get it and then find I cant play it because the controller support was an after thought.

Havent heard any complaints from my friends who use the controller

I haven't had any issues with the controller. Just switch to Mouse and Keyboard for lockpicking.

my mate in the next room, all works for him with controler on x box, but the lockpicking is rapeing him. i can hear his screams at night through the wall.
with m+kb lockpicking is easy as throwing stones.

that may be the only real difference in this game between controller and m+kb. the rest seem to work equally good.

Nice one guys thanks, thankfully my Mouse and Keyboard is always to hand if i need a switch. Is switching to M&K going to require me to switch it in settings? Or can I just pick them up and use them when i need to.

Personally I prefer the xbox controller. The combat system feels much more fluid and natural with the controller.

However.... as many have said, lockpicking is a nightmare without a mouse. So I tend to just save scum when I'm trying to pick locks

Driving around on your trusty steed works allot better with the horse. I dont know how it works when switching between controller and M&K.

lock picking is easily done on controller. When rotating the left stick do not go to the edges.

73 hours in-game so far... all with my xbox one controller... as was said above, the ONLY issue is lockpicking is darn near impossible... well... just VERY difficult... actually broke down and got the "easy lockpicking" mod just to avoid it until the devs fix it (hopefully)...

You dont need to change any settings when switching. Just do it.

At first lockpicking was hard because i was just trying to rotate the left stick around the edges, if you keep it offset from the middle, its easy.

Sounds good Guys thanks for all the input, I have an elite controller so may give it ago with a taller analogue stick may make the lock picking easier by the sounds of it. If not my keybaord and mouse are always plugged in a few inches away so can always use it. Looks like ill be picking this up for my trusty PC soon then. Thanks again everyone who put their 2 cents in.

I play this game with the XBOX 360 controller and it works well.

There are downsides tho : At the moment, we can't remap.

So, problem #1 : Camera speed is damn slow and at the moment, we can't adjust camera speed.

problem #2 : Running is ''B'' and jumping is ''X'' ... Well, just look at your controller and you will understand it's an akward way to map these.... Can't jump while running, unless you are some kind of a finger acrobat, this is what I mean.

Problem #3 : Lockpicking with a controller is near impossible so when lockpicking, I just switch to mouse/keyboard. I do the same when using a bow, but that is only preferences.

So far, playing with XBOX controller works fine. As soon as they implement some button mapping and speed slider option, it will be perfect.

Has anyone tried 3rd party programs for re-mapping the controls? Seems like a pretty big blunder to not have this sort of support in the game, but if 3rd party re-maps work its not such a deal breaker for me.

EDIT : Is there plans in the pipeline for better controller support?

Havent tried any 3rd party software to re-map because I was really counting on the devs to implement it. I dont know if they will but it would be dumb not to.

Anyone who read or took part in this : To remap the controller go into big picture mode - library - kingdom come - manage game - controller configuration you can remap the controls there for your controller.
