Bandits have no keys for their chest

I cleaned now 2 bandit camps, and there were chests with a very hard lock. But no one of the bandits had a key for it. That doesn't make any sense. How are they supposed to open their own chest?
Now I'm possibly missing items of high value because I can't open it yet and I don't think I will remember it when I mastered lockpicking...

if you sneak in the camp at night you can steal all their armour from the chest and then they have to fight you naked.

That is Cuman ambush.
But IF you search around BEFORE you open chest.
You will find two or more Cuman hinding can't move until you open chest.

It's not the ambush, it was during the Robard quests to kill the Cuman Leaders.
