Suddenly long loading times
Hey everybody,

I am having a problem with the game and was not able to find anything on Google, so I was wondering, if anyone of you has encountered anything of the sort. Up until today, the game ran pretty well for me, but as of today, it takes forever to load. The game is on a SSD and never took longer than 15 seconds to load. The loading time before dialogues was almost non-existent - a short fade to black and nothing more. But now it takes a couple of minutes to load a save and more than 60 seconds to load a dialogue, which is pretty infuriating and robs me of the intention to keep playing. Does anybode know how to fix this? I verified the integrity of the game files, tried loading other saves, tried playing like this for a while, but the problem persists... If anybody has an idea, I would be extremely grateful.

Cheers

Same thing happened for me after the last patch. Before the patch my loading screens were very short but now they are about a minute long which really destroys my enjoyment of the game. Hopefully the big patch coming this week fixes this.
yep having the same issues here, eating from a pot takes 2 minutes to load

+1
Is there a way to rollback to the previous version?
Pretty annoying and a showstopper for me to go ahead with the game

I noticed the same. Not sure, but this might be somehow related to various texture streaming tweaks circling around the forums and reddit. At least I managed to cure it by reverting to stock ultra settings and removed especiall all of these streaming settings from user.cfg. Now the loads times are again normal i.e. very quick with ssd.

I have this issue too. The only change I've made to my files was the mod that removes the schnapps requirement for saving.

Have had it too, a restart usually fixes it though.

They quiet install micro patches again for 2 times today(updates can't be seen in steam update screen) , all working fine

Unfortunately that does not help for me... Still can't play properly. even after any patches that might have come out.
Just ate at a pot. It took about a minute to load. Jesus Christ... :D

Launch a SSD testing software and check that your SSD isn't acting up. This happens to me on my Samsung drive.
moved my game from normal HDD to my smaller but a lot faster SSD that helped

... but even after that, had also that problem AND even wasn't able to save (endless loop) after the monastery quest !

Found this, as I think it is a MEMORY HANDLING PROBLEM ...

___________________________________________________
make an ASCII , Text file and save it as "user.cfg" in the gamedirectory ...
INGAME open the console and activate that settings with ->

exec user.cfg

Isn't from me found it also here ,
as I tried my monastery quest now different , I don't know if that was the reason, which fixed my long loading times AND not able to save, or the hidden updates or that user.cfg

Hope it helps ...

Below is what is in that file ->

sys_budget_sysmem = 8000
sys_budget_videomem = 4096
r_TexturesStreamPoolSize = 2048
r_TexturesStreamingMaxRequestedMB = 180
r_TexturesStreamingResidencyTime = 120
r_texturesstreamingDeferred = 1
r_TexturesStreamingResidencyEnabled = 1
r_TexturesStreamingMipBias = -3
r_TexturesStreamingResidencyThrottle = 0.8
e_PreloadMaterials = 1
sys_PakStreamCache = 1
sys_preload = 1
sys_streaming_in_blocks = 1
sys_streaming_requests_grouping_time_period = 1

unfortunately no fix for me :( still long loading times and loading screen right before dialogs

I can confirm it happens if you save during the monasary quest. Reloaded a earlier save and no loading times at the monasary.

It just started happening to me too since yesterday. I have an I7 5820K, 32GB RAM, a GTX 1080 and a Dell S2716DG 144Hz 1440P Gsync monitor running Windows 10 64bit Home FCU 1709.

Right now I'm having the same issue. Everything was fine earlier today. Also, I'm playing on GOG version.
