"♥♥♥♥ imma die..... i dont even have a name!"
how do you know if youre going to die in a movie or book? Your name is "guard" or "Crewman"
It is not very good approach in an RPG that pretends to be realistic. I've seen some other games name NPCs by their general appearance and only then by name when you get properly acquainted. That way you never know if that random peasant/townsperson/guard was expendable/generic or important for some cool quest later on. Makes player think twice before slaughtering them.
