vipers nest is the second to last mission, so what was the first one you were talking about that was fine if you did other stuff?
Top be honest the main quest can't "fail" due to time. There is one part where if you don't do something fast enough some NPCs will die, but it doesn't change much, just an achievement. It's also pretty obvious that this will happen too.
Most of the time you can stop doing the main quest whenever you like. Just use logic, the developers can't code in alternate paths for the main quest based on how long the player waits. There is one quest line with very little variation in how it gets done, at least as far as I have gotten anyways.
Once i can't dig the grave, second some important NPC just fall before my eyes and die, cutscenes and other things don't want to pop out. This quest is one hell of a buggy mess, beware.
like i needed at least few minutes before we ride to investigate the neuhof massacre and before i blinked the eye, everyone already left without me and i barely catched them in time and i guess i missed some dialogues on the road with Bernard or something :D
But i guess you are right with the fact that the main quest line cannot be altered much in this way and it should be safe mostly to go away from it for a while.
So i guess i will try to leave Ginger wherever he is right now and not go after him and i hope that after few days once i return from my travels he will be alive and still on the same place :D
ok thanks for the info :) iam actually getting near to this point in the story so its great to hear this and i will also use this time to go and eplore and do sidequests etc :)
So far, the timed quests are those that tell you within the quest. (meet someone at a certain time, like meeting Hans at dawn to go hunting. If the quest giver tells you to do it in a certain time then do it. Noted any sayings like Come back as soon as you can..have not messed up any main quests for me.
thanks for the answer :)
poor hans, this was the point where i left him waiting each day and i was doing lots of other stuff and it was ok. He just waited there every day.
Also, an interesting fact, sometimes your mission is to find a location and the quest says you must interrogate people to find it, but you can also follow people, or even just stumble upon the place while exploring.
For example, instead of interrogating everyone at the Neuhof farm, you could directly go to where the bandits are, then directly go to Ginger without having to ask for help about where he is.
Um, no, Viper's nest is far from the 2nd last mission in the game. There are many many more main quests after that one.
I waited three days before I met Hans in the morning to go hunting. There are quests that have a boundary. If you leave the boundary the quest will fail. The hunting quest with Hans is like that. If you look at your quest map, it clearly shows the boundary.
