Stolen Item Status

How long do stolen items take to lose their status? I want to be able to equip this nice set of armor I stole from a guard.

depends on value and person you stole from. some takes a day some takes 2-3 days some takes 5 days. really depends. i never stole from a guard before so i don't know but just keep skipping days till its ready to use lol.

If it's really expensive, probably about a 5-7 days, maybe longer. I think I had a $999 piece of platemail that took 2 weeks to lose the heat.

You can also just sell it to the miller and buy it back. (I don't get why no one ever considers this as an option..)

Get your rep to 100 with a miller and then sell & buy back from him.

ps. i only found out about selling stolen goods to them after i finished the game.

I'm playing blind for my first playthrough. I'm sure I've missed dozens of simple things as well.

Normally 3 days. Its a good idea to store stolen items in your chest, or if you feel cheesy, store it in your horse because the guards wont check that.
