Did i fail Theresa romance by not giving her present?

So in the first "date" with Theresa, there are few dialogue options at first, i sadly waited with the option of giving her a gift and i wanted to try the others first, but as soon as you choose one of the other options, you no longer have the option to give her the gift.
I went with her to the river, i had success in each speech check, but i've read that in order to finish the romance, you need to give her some gift at the beginning.
So did i screw up and i will not be able to finish the romance? sadly i cannot solve this by loading previous save, i am made a lot of progress since then.

gifts don't matter, actually, gifts don't work. If you bought her a dress, you couldn't give it to her even if you wanted. just keep playing the game, you have to wait a few days for the quest to progress.

and do you know it this quest have a time limit? the quest updated that i should go see her, but i am in a series of main quest linked together and i cant really leave right now but i dont want that romance quest to fail. thanks
