um, but do what I did.
Knockout 1st guard, drag body.
Take all from him.
Kill 2nd guard, take his stuff if its better.
Kill all. Of course possible if you have axe spec.
You get your stuff much later in the quest.
If that is Vranic or whatever, then you can absolutely kill everyone inside if you have axe or mace specialization.
everyone except sword master who is immortal basically.
Also, if you feel like you need a weapon then there is a hut with a chest somewhere close to where you were held hostage; if you had unlocked it before then it should have a sword in there that you can use. If you have stealth kill skill then you can take the guards out one by one I suppose. Come to think about it, you could probably sneak your whole gear into that chest before you are outed as a spy...
I also did the same by jumping from somewhere where i wasn't probably supposed to jump from, this quest is badly made, when i got to the dung heap there were five guards standing in one pile just next to the part where i was supposed to jump from, i just had to mash "E" while the guards were smacking me with their weapons since there was no way to sneak past them.
I guess I was lucky; by the time I reached that place the guards had left because they didn't want to stay there anymore (because of the smell) and the place was pretty empty.
I did this as well. Except I disguised myself as the guard and walked out. After I grabbed my stuff of course. I actually did get verbally challenged by a dude and recognized but I was pretty much at the exit point so I just ran.
There's also another chest in a broken building that has 2 lockpicks it in among other things. I actually found that first. It's just the guard walked up and got in the way so I choked him out and took all his stuff. Then went to grab my stuff.
Also yeah for people having trouble properly sneaking out you can wait for the guards to leave. As they will complain about the stench.
1. Is getting caught 100% mandatory or can you avoid that?
2. How does one acquire the stealth kill skill?
My Henry's pretty much going the "paragon" route so I may not be able to. Since I did not do the quest for Teresa's uncle, do not lock pick or steal (with the exception of it being off a dead person, they don't need it)...
Hopefully I can get this somehow regardless...
You get caught in that camp due to a massive plot twist so yeah it will happen.
To get the stealth kill perk you need level 5 stealth then you can unlock the perk. You're friend Mathias from skalitz can train you in stealth. You'll find him in sassau at the inn leaning on the main gate. The inn not the tavern though it's often referred to as a tavern in game a lot. Or if you've already done a quest related to him you'll find him in different places depending on how you handled the quest. But you'll know where if you did. One of the millers will also train you in stealth. I think it's the one Pejeck tells you to go deliver the copper band to. Kunesh has a stealth book on him. He's a begger in Rattay. Though it's rather hard to get it off him cos he's in the middle of rattay. There's a mini quest you can start which gives you the possibility of him handing it over to you as "payment" from skalitz.
And of course sneaking around picking locks, choking people and escaping places gets your stealth up. You also need a dagger in your inventory to be able to stealth kill once you get the perk. Daggers are super cheap and can often be found on bandits and such.
Ah thanks for that clarity, I kept reloading the game early on trying to not get one shot and loose Radzig's sword. Now I know why it was such a struggle though of course lol
I'll have to look for that trainer fellow in Sassau, I never did Pejeck's quest's I declined and paid him out of pocket instead. Sounded like shady business so...
I've done 0 sneaking about and since I skipped Pejeck's quest's never learned to lock pick. I can read though so maybe I can get that book somehow. The dagger I have already though, it's needed it for ear harvesting after all ;)
You don't need stealth kill for that quest though. My stealth at the time was level 2. Which was pretty much from the few times I picked a lock and I had choked a couple of sleeping people out so I could steal something from them because my pick pocketing skill was too low lol. Then it turns out what I wanted wasn't even on their person but in an unlocked chest. You can still choke people at any level (though the higher level you are the higher the chance of success) It's just at one point I wanted to know how to stealth kill so I put some time getting my stealth up.
