The Hunt Begins, Scout the Area; What am I looking for?

Is there a trigger like talking to all the people which will Optional Scout the Area to go away?? I am assuming there is some body or horse I need to find to to clear that out the book same as I had to talk to everyone who was a victims who I could.

On the West, North, and Eastern edges of the stable is a low stone wall. If you start at the Northernmost point of this wall and follow it SW, eventually you'll come across a wooden fence that's been destroyed. Inspect the wooden rubble and the optional quest "Scout the Area" completes.

He could be refering to the area just north of the gate. On my map there is an area highlighted to checkout. However I actually have to go further than what's indicated then I can listen to the conversation.
