Mods Gone, 1000+ hours wasted
Since the upgrade to version 1.9, I crushed while loading the game then I left it there. Finally I got into the game after 1 hour or so, I loaded the save and it said since my game and save was modded, stability cannot be guaranteed. A message popped up after loading it said some elements were modified and mods will be deleted, need to download updated mod to restart game.........wtf? Go through every mod and ask the modder to update them 1.9 compatible individually, are you joking?

All my saves were done in modded game, 1000+ hours wasted. Why don't they update the game like previous versions but with mods rejected this time??????

How about trying to move the mods back into the mod folder... the two mods I use still work.

You could also simply have... like not updated the game.
Everyone know that a new version of a game mess up mods... so it was your own mistake that you updated.

And yes, it is up to the makers of the mods to update their mods. You can't expect the devs to test every single mods out there.

When you mod a game, knowing updates and DLC will be added, this is what you have to expect and deal with and accapt. Most of the time mods come with a warning, or people know before hand, they can mess your game up in the future when a game is updated.
You want to play your save, you will have to wait for each mod to be updated, or just accapt you decided to mod your game, no one forced you, this is not on the devs but you.

If you had read the patch notes you'd have noticed that they moved all your mods to a folder because they were incompatible. Basically as an extra check to prevent people from ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about glitches caused by their mods being incompatible when new patches come out.

There is nothing stopping you from moving your mods back.

Oh only the modded saves are not compatible? i thought non-modded was also broken.

You also need to change the "supports" line for every mod in mod.manifest to 1.9:
<supports>
<kcd_version>1.9.*</kcd_version>
</supports>

It is pretty standard for mods to stop working in updated games. Nothing new there.

Which is why official modding options and tools are usually released after the main development progress has ended.

Though, people are still using old mods right now. As presented above, they just fixed the information.

I am more careful, because I haven't yet delved in to how much changes was made. I would rather not risk getting my save file corrupted, due to some memory issues.

Really?!
Steam doesn't ask to update a game, it just does. All you can configure is if it updates it right away, prioritized, or only when you start the game - but it WILL update the game, there is no way around it.

I just started playing a few days ago again, of course with mods, and I am already shaking because my save might be broken and I'd have to start AGAIN, for like the fourth time since the game released because I never did finish it, took a longer break and boom patch broke it -> new save.

I only ever used Optimized Graphic Presets, kcd_flowgraph_hook and Very Unintrusive Reticle.

I moved the mods back to a new modfolder from mods_old and added the lines in the pak file.

Its working, Buut, whenever I press ESC in game to get to the graphics options and so forth it gets stuck there, game is running but i just cant press ESC again to get back to the game.

nothing wrong with that, they won't test all possible mods with updates... so nothing wrong my friend :)

Love the whole 1000 hour "wasted" thing though; as though you'd somehow been using that time productively :steammocking: :steamsalty:

OP must be new to modding.

Better handling of mods
After download of any new patch, all installed mods will be disabled and moved to a specific folder; player will be notified by overlay in main menu. We highly recommend only installing mods that have been updated to match the current game version.
The game now handles installing and uninstalling mods containing new NPCs, items, perks and buffs much better. This should solve many corrupted saves.
The game now visually marks any save that is modded or was created from a playthrough using mods. We can't guarantee stability on these saves.
