This is why "Hardcore" modes mostly do not work
I was in Talmberg right after escaping Skalitz and I jumped down about a 6-8 foot ledge. My feet started bleeding (which is comical in and of itself) and I applied a total of six bandages (all that I had plus what I bought from the one trader in Talmberg) and was still bleeding profusely. Everyone I talked to was appalled at how much I was bleeding, with some even asking (with no option for me to respond) if they should fetch a physician. I went and talked to everyone, hoping to find someone who would patch me up, to no avail.

I bled to death.

From my feets.

With no one in Talmberg able to help me.

They sure went to a lot of trouble for me, just to watch me bleed to death from my feets.

The point of hardcore mode is to provide realism and a challenge. Providing *just* a challenge takes away the realism.

Hardcore mode failed.

Lol at least u died epically. Not everyone can die from their feet bleeding

Dying of inadequate medicine = 14th century realism!

Playing hardcore mode in this game is setting yourself up for heartbreak. Unless you have endless free time and endless patience, may as well start banging your head against a wall.

Honestly sounds like a bug if 6 bandages wasn’t enough to stop your bleeding. Unless you took the one negative perk that increases fall damage, it increases fall damage by a lot

Indeed, I did. In fact, I chose all of the negative perks. :)

And I know what I am complaining about is a real "first-world problem", but if the element they insert is going to lean away from realism, please find a different element to put in instead (a lot of the other debuffs from hardcore are realistic *and* consistent). I don't think the intention of hardcore mode is to portray an unrealistic world where gravity is 2x that of earth and bones are twice as brittle as they were back then.

If you've read the descriptions of all the negative perks you've picked, you should know Henry's bones are literally twice as brittle
Anyways I think I know from where you've tried to jump and I wouldn't risk that kind of jump irl even with normal bones. That rock underneath looks nasty to land on

Well hardcore mode is a bit hardcore, I guess. And I think it's a nice, very RPG touch that you don't just use the regular abstract immersion-breaking 'difficulty setting' but literally put Henry in a disadvantage because of his customizable 'character traits'

Then if you are complaining about hardcore mode (rather than laughing at yourself for your particular fate....) then you deserved your fate of death by bleeding from your feet from a fall you should have avoided.

Picks "brittle bones" and "hemophilia" perks

Jumps from very significant height* onto sharp rocks

"Why doth Henry bleedeth?!!"

Could go into the baths and ask for healing there, though.

* instead of using typical "jumpable heights in videogames" as a reference try some jumping IRL

why kids blame game, when they fail hard in that game? why dont they blame self, when they fail?
really, bristle bones and hemophilia.. and then be surprised when break legs and bleed out.. what u omfg think? u will be superman, when u take those perks? do u think u will be immortal by them? no.. its easy, when u read what those perks are.. u will have disadvantages.. your bones broke easiest than normal and hemophilia affect your bleeding..if u dont know what is hemophilia, google it. in RL is possible bleed out from small injury, when u have hemophilia..

Many of you are making asinine remarks based on an asinine assumption, which is that I jumped off of the bridge to get out of Talmberg. I did not. That would be more than 6 to 8 feet and the landing on sharp rocks would have at least made a little more sense. Try again, noobs. I was simply in Talmberg and was within the walls when I met my unrealistic demise.

And (once more, for the slow people in the room....*sigh*) my complaint is not about hardcore mode, but a hardcore mode that attempts to bring realism while doing quite the opposite. That is why I provided the example of bleeding to death from jumping off of something, when it is very unlikely that there would have been a whole lot of blood at all. It should have been a broken leg, then, if we are talking about realism.

It is hardcore as you said. I would rather try to get lockpicks from the trader and get the equipment from talmberg and go across the gate. Because the soldier does say you can cross there in case you are in full gear. That way you dont need to jump from the bridge and hurt yourself, I've done that before.
Another way you can do it, in case you cant buy lockpicks enough to try to unlock the chests, or you cant open them with the lockpicks is... steal one of the horses from the stable very quick and jump the bridge using the horse, it could happen for the horse to be hurt, or you as well, but the odds might be better depending how you do it (dont jump, try to find the safest place to walk with the horse, probably the backside of the fall, not the front). If you horse gets stuck in the back, jump from it and you will at least be more safe to try and descend the rest.

Once again, I did not incur my injury jumping from the bridge nor did I really do it (directly) in the course of trying to leave Talmberg. I simply leapt down a small ledge or retaining wall.
