Audio bug
Hey guys,
I seem to be having audio issues with this game.
There is no dialogue and sounds are missing all over the place.
Nothing too recent on here about how to fix.
Tried checking my playback devices which are all fine and set.
Tried checking the kcd.log which all says audio is correct.
Tried downloading the HD Voice pack to see if that would help but did nothing.
Anybody had something similar? I'm running the latest version and am close to having to ask for a refund, which I really don't want to do as I love the game.
I should mention that I have had about 20 hours of the audio working perfectly, and then all of a sudden it bugged and has never recovered.
Thanks

If you are installed any mods, delete them.

Just to be sure, kcd.log says this?
<Audio>: AudioSystem initialization Font initialization About to initialize FMOD Studio. Headers: 11007. Master bank: KCD.bank FMOD version check: Headers 11007, Binaries 11007 CryAudioImplFmod: initializeFmodStudio succeeds (banks: KCD.bank, KCD.strings.bank) FMOD version: Headers 11007, Binaries 11007 Audio driver in use by FMOD Studio: -- getOuput returned 8 -- Driver name: "Realtek High Definition Audio" -- System rate: 48000 Hz -- Speaker mode is 3 -- Speaker mode channels: 2 channels

What's up in the windows volume mixer? Game itself could be muted there.

Did you restart your PC?

Check Speakers settings too. Most notably, uncheck the "Allow exclusive mode" box in 'Advanced' tab, I mean this one:

https://help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/211166003-How-to-Disable-Exclusive-Mode-in-Windows-Sound-Preferences

It is the most common cause for losing sound anywhere in my experience.

Tick "Disable all enhancements" in 'Enhancements' tab too.

Besides the "troubleshoot sound problems" or jumping from windowed to full screen options here are some more potential fixes. This one worked for me:
-Go to the "Sounds" control panel applet (or start mmsys.cpl from "Windows\System32").
-In both the playback and recording tab configure the right device (that is the one you intent to use) and set as default.
-In both the playback and recording tab disable all devices but the default (aka the one you intent to use) device.

Another option that worked for some users:
-Start "Realtek HD Audio Manager" if no shortcut is available it's executable (RtkNGUI64.exe) is (probably) located at "Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA".
-Click "Device advanced settings". In the Asus ROG rebranded version it's the gear icon on the top right corner followed by clicking "Option".
-Under "Playback Device" select "Make internal and external..." and under "Recording device" select "Seperate all input...".
-Finish by clicking "OK".
