This is actually the good part.
What bother me in this quest it is time-limited (seems Sam just bleed out while you are frantically running with torch around) and I was not able localize all 3 cloth´s in time over couple of tries (spent there like 2 real hours on this part).
Happened I reached this quest part with 0 bandages and was able found only 5 bandages in area - including killing (was really mad at that moment as you need 3x quest cloth OR 6x bandage - but having 5x bandage and 2x quest cloth is not enough.. This is kinda stupid design.
Gave up and realoaded earlier savegame to get bandages first elsewhere.
Seek is only partially useful - dog lead you to marks on map which actually is only partially helpful here (eg. there is broken wagon that contain nothing for quest..)
Once you get marigold area, jsut bring 3 bandages (3 are in cave) and it is trivial.
I was right, the dog died like it lived, like an idiot piece of s*it
No wonder that they say this DLC will take around 15 hours ... cause you spend 3 hours to find those FU**ING flowers ...
Just go all defensive untill the dog desides to sick on the Cuman, and let him have it.
Man because of your comment i though in my game Sam also died because he bleed out and that i had been too slow to finish, so i spend next ~3hours to retry this mission and finish all things optional and not - everything doing very quick, finding all cloths, even when having bandages, thinking that at the end i might see some other outcome (well she already said to Henry before that Sam died but who knows maybe some reverse story changes or different outcome to see i suspected because of your comment, it seems it didn't change anything but i still not finished dlc. Well at least i saved bandages and got ~2-3 more loots :P
It's full of fetch quests. Lucky I saved right before the quest triggered before I got time warped into Theresa's body. It got so bad I stopped mid dlc, went back to that old save, kept the dog and never looked back, lol.
Well, it is not best follow and necro old posts as all things could have been patched and changed over time (and this topic was created shortly after DLC release). But iiirc at time of my post running out time simply meant failed quest and game over + there was fairly limtied time window for everything.
It is from history of my country and favourite genre so I was following development and was superexcited by it at release... only for being punished for it by replaying over and over due combination of save system, plethora of bugs (you can find lot of my posts in this discussion about various bugs I encountered and as time to time some are still opened in discussion I know good part survived to this day) or search solutions for them and clunky not fun combat system that "can" be realistic (and even give false feeling it has learning curve and is rewarding with Bernard in arena... well at least if you are not stuck in it and has to restart your day and trainng due bug AGAIN) but at end of day force player to grab superb perks and use cheesy tactics (like abuse riposite as each attack is otehrwise easily countered by that super secret sword masters disguised as looters...) which sucks....
And I realize the same things again and again if I want give game another chance after long time break when all harms done are forgotten at the end I feel almost sorry I invested so much time and money into this game and would gladly refund it if there would be the option. Nvm, this is probably not the place for reviews:p
tl;dr - imho the story is not good enough to justify all flaws game has and it brings only dissapointment later. (and btw I like Telltale games, even though their presntation of "choice" is only illusion by large part... but I am fine with that. if you did not played yet I suggest check Wolf among us - it is very likely the best and hide suprisingly rich story and deep characters behind mask of fairytale... and Pillas of the Earth is newer title closer to real history)
