how do you know what horse you are buying?
I took a look at all the horses in the stable and in the fenced area in neuhof. but non of them have a name, they are all called "horse". from the buying menu all I get is a tier and a name. so how do I know the stats of a horse? are they all simply better in every single stat as the tier goes up or is it random ?

Note that while tier 5 is considered best, tier 4 can still overtake or compare in a particular stats. Its important to choose the horse that is best for your exact purposes. Is speed, carry weight, or an aspect of combat from horse, what is most important? Which fits your version of Henry the best? For example, if carrying capacity is your main use of horse, but you also want high courage, then Bucephalus is a perfect choice. Only 3 carry more, only 2 are more courageous, and none are both. Of course, if any other stat, becomes of greater importance to you, then there are better choices based on that.

Also note, nearly every horses name is a reference to something. A certain reference, may fit your Henry's preference.

Look around more. All of the named horses exist in the world (and at or very near the named stable) and can be examined. In addition there are generic 'horses' which are not offered for sale.

Neuhof is only one of the three default - plus one optional - stables, you can also look at the others to choose your horse from their owners.

They are in Neuhof, but they are not the only options.

They are at the north stable and pasture in Nuehoff, not the one right by Zora. Nuehoff stables are pretty large. I am sure you will find them, just be sure to cover the entire area of where you question people on the bandit quest. (provided this is post attack, and reopened for business).

*side note, love the references here with Zora's name, one of the horses shes sells, and what is said about the horse when you select it before finalizing purchase.

All the horses names didn't match the ones listed in the traders list. So I bought their most expensive one. A tier 5 horse for 2.1k groshen.

A marvellous white steed. I do not regret buying it.

just out of curiousity, does it completely replace your pebbles, as in it cannot die?

Well they can die. Whether or not they will short of a major screw up or glitch is another story.

For some reason, the whole transition post defeating Runt, killed off a horse for me last time.

Afterward, I couldn't find my horse. I march on foot across the land searching for it. I find it, and cry, for the mighty Bucephalus, was dead.

So just as a precaution, you may want to hold off on buying the best available, and settle with a midrange tier 3 until post Baptism by Fire.

I found out there is no point in stealing a horse :( you cannot equip it, and your whistle will always be on pebbles :( ah well, ill save up for that good white steed!

aye thanks, I didn't think the stables property would be as big as it was :) appaerantly the whole lot is from zola, I did find them now.

No problem. Also due note that if you have From the Ashes, the horses from the rebuilt stables are particularly sweet. The best horses in game in several stats, and would have to put all 3 in my top 5 overall.

I've got my eyes set on that arabian horse, good speed, stamina and can carry quiet a bit. tier 5 so the price is quiet steep, but I'll get there if that peasant stops cheating with dice!!
