there's a coded percentage chance for events to happen. It's been well documented. In previous versions, some bugs would completely disable random events and modders to find workarounds.
There are ways to edit the code; however, they all seem to be outdated which is why I'm posting here. I'm about 30 hours in on this playthrough and I've only had 3 encounters. 2 against naked bandits. So yes, something seems to be bugged with random encounters in 1.9.1
So you just uninstalled the mod and expect it to work? You have to create a new game. That mod was an overhaul. Mods don't just work with a click and go.
I installed the mod about 15 hours in and having only been attacked twice by some naked bandits.
I got zero encounters with the mod enabled for about 8 hours of gameplay (probably due to it being broken)
I uninstalled the mod about 7 hours of gameplay ago and I've had 2 encounters since
I haven't even seen any wayfairing or faint-hearted knights. 30+ hours in and you'd expect to see them at least once but I haven't something's not right.
When I go fast travel during a quest I sometimes see two ambushes back to back, something they call a pilgrim or that knight or wayfairing all in one travel and so most of the time I skip them because I am on a quest and I don't want to be bothered so all I am saying is my game is not broken. If I am not in a quest then I don't mind the encounters and then I will fight them or see what they are about but they do happen maybe not as often as you would like oh and by the way have any of you seen that rope trick near the miller place. I got knocked off my horse by that rope and had to fight a tough knight? What a surprise that was for the first time.
Skirmishes and ambushes are common and can even be farmed on certain roads (e.g. from Led to Sasau along the south bank of the river).
