Can't run the game anymore. No active profile?
When I try to run the game now, I get a fatal error message saying that I have no active profile? I was able to play just earlier this year, but haven't played in several months.

I get this message during the cut scene at the intro.

How do I fix this problem?

and? You waited? then you tried the play?
Did it find any missing files and replaced them?
Are you logged into Steam?

Oh, I forgot to mention but I did get a verification message saying that all the files were fine when I did verify integrity of the game files.

Not just Steam profiles. The Windows user name can royally mess things up in this game if you switched logins, or if you relocated files, or anything similar to that. I hope it works for you soon!

It's definitely not Windows profile. I am still using the same profile I have for many years. I just checked on login and by going to the menu in task manager.
So, it's been a while since I have looked into this issue, but even when using the same Windows Profile, sometimes windows will fail to recognize your existing profile and uses a placeholder profile instead. So, even though you log into the same profile, the folder (with App Data, etc. in it) is not the same as normal. It might be good to navigate to where your User profiles are and make sure there are no folders there that you don't recognize. There are much better explanations online.

I'm lots for words lol.
Does it work now?

I remember using windows 10 when it first came out and something went wrong with my MS password and was unable to login to windows even with no password set contacted MS no luck. Shrugged shoulders and just formatted the drive and reinstalled my Windows 7. Still scares me with upgrading When Steam decides to stop support for W7 . Still have a couple of years.

I originally upgraded to Windows 10 for less than 24 hours, then rolled back to Windows 7.

I don't want to lose my Windows 7!!

LOL

I did recently update my windows to the newer version that came out a few months ago. Might have been in May I think? That could have done something I guess?

But how do I manually verify my user profiles on windows are correct? I will try to work on it on my end too. And thanks again for helping me out.

Windows 10 updates always messes with our settings often times they must be reset.
So yes its possible.
I have 3 computers 2 W7 and 1 W10.
Try this I found on Steam.
Fully exit Steam first. Nothing of Steam running.
Go to "C:/users/*yourname*/savedgames/kingdomcome " and delete the "profiles" folder.
only the Profiles Folder it wont touch your saves. or screenshots

Make back up of it first. Or just rename it Profiles_old restart Steam it should create a new one and now work fingers crossed :)

Yep. I saw that fix last night when I looked into it. I tired it this morning and it worked. Not sure how it will effect save games or other files, but it's running so far.

It is still a little glitchy at the intro screen. When it says press E to continue, it takes a really long time and appears to freeze. That might be because I was running it on VorpX also?

And it doesn't play in VR like a most regular games do on VorpX. You don't get the full VR experience, you just get a 3D movie screen. It takes up your entire field of view which is nice, but it doesn’t create a virtual world like VR games. It just looks like a game that you would play on a 3D tv with 3D glasses on. Backgrounds seem distant, but objects and people don't appear to have any real volume. You don’t get the feeling you are walking around a virtual environment.

I haven't found many games that do look great and still have great performance when running them on VorpX for a VR hesdset. Fallout 4 works pretty well with VorpX, and Skyrim is ok. You at least get the full VR visuals, even if the performance isn't spectacular. And you can play the regular game in VR with the keyboard and mouse, which is much better than the VR controls in certain ways.

Thats great to hear. Sorry I have no idea how you play a game that is not VR designed instead use software like VorpX that adds VR support . Pushing the limits may cause problems with the game's mechanics and your system specs and gpu.
Cheers

Glad you got it working, Indianer, and good work Juanitta for providing the solution!

No idea on the VR stuff here - sorry!

I'm still having this issue. Tried re-installing . tried the folder delete, tried renaming the folder from default, Tried editing the config profile name from default. also turned off my firewall and anti virus, still not working. It only started doing this after the game updated last year. I uninstalled it and put it on the shelf, come back to play it and still the same old problem. please help.

whats the error
sphynx719 Nov 18, 2019 @ 8:07pm
'user' has No active profile.
Jaunitta 🌸 Nov 18, 2019 @ 10:03pm
right, reading what you did doesn't match in that you tried the folder delete
Only the profile folder should be deleted.

Have you white listed KCD with your firewall add it through? not defender just windows firewall.
White list it with your AV. Do you Bit defender?
That can cause it.
Any other security programs might be preventing it from launching?

Its installed to the correct directory?
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance\Bin\Win64 Kingdom Come Deliverance .exe << right click that and create a shortcut, place onto the desktop then right click that and run as administrator.
Any problems with other games?
sphynx719 Nov 18, 2019 @ 11:42pm
yes I deleted just the Profiles folder. Yes I did add it to the firewall. I turned off the antivirus because mine dose not have a white list. No the game was install through Steam on my 2tb D: drive. So for me it's at D:\Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance\Bin\Win64. Also copied the files from Win64Shared to win64 from another tip I read about, no change. I tried launching steam as admin but no change. But like I said the game worked for hours with no problem until the game updated. And this is the only game I have this issue with.

I also did a SFC /scannow and no problems were found. And have plenty of space on the drive...

ok thanks, could be Steam is not seeing the game's directory correctly.
Open Steam top left >settings>Downloads>on the right click on Steam Library Folders>Add a Steam Library. Navigate to your D drive and add that folder.
When you incorrectly close Steam or shutdown your computer when using an external drive you may lose the library on USB drives.
