I got a beard since I was 14. Mine never was too thick, but one of my relatives is now 17 and he's very close to Henry in terms of beardness. Beard is not an argument, but Henry does look somewhat older for teens (within the norm tho, imo) so as his supposedly same-aged friends. That doesn't mean however that he's older 'lorewise', if I remember correctly Hans Capon's age is known and it's 15 or something

My bet is 16-17

This is the time he used to live in. Villagers keep calling him "lad" and some even note how they're starting to take children into the garrison, indicating his age. 20 and above is way too old for that era, and since he was considered a child by many and was yet unmarried at the start of the game, he can't be that old. Sir Hans Capon was 15 at the time, yet too young to rule the land. So I wouldn't put Henry too far ahead either. They may have had to given him an older appearance to avoid controversies pertaining to that matter.

He is around 16-17. While this is young by our standards, he is rather late starting - having barely begun obtaining life skills and being a 'blue blooded idler'.

As a comparison - At the age of 16 Henry of Monmouth was severely wounded in the face by an arrow while leading his the left battle of his father's army, a fairly significant responsibility for a young man.

As already wrote in another thread about the same topic:

Henry is shown as an adult for political reasons (bathhouse, killing,,...). And he is also an adult for technical/budget reasons. You need more character models for all ages, and the clothes would have to adjust to size.

And if the game would be realistic, the story would take years. You do not build a village, learn all kind of things to perfection and heal heavy wounds, in days. At the beginning Henry should be 13 and 17 at the end. But you would need an AAA budget for that. Not to mention censorship looking the other way.

The main issue is that they'd wanted Henry to start off as a weakling with no pre-existing skill sets. So naturally, they'd have to alter his appearance as he goes on and design different sizes of armour. If he wasn't written to be a weakling, the story could've been written over many years. Connor started off at 13 and they'd used the same model all the way till the end of AC3, when he was around 27-28. He could also start killing at that age, but it could be that censorship wasn't as big of an issue back then as it is today. Hell, I doubt all the controversies surrounding the game would even have existed if it was released around the same time as AC3.

Good point Light Yagami. Censorship is quite a serious step not taken lightly with Steam /Valve and the developers. Classification and stuff.
Since just recent KCD was banned in Australia but resolved by changing the classification ratings thing

How long ago have you seen real teen-aged humans?
Young people can grow till their mid 20s but at early teens they ain't anywhere near 'children size' already (considering that adults can differ in height and width, too, obviously)
I've reached my current adult height (180cm) at 14 maybe 15 and it wasn't too uncommon. Though I was a lot skinnier back then, but that's another story
