How to make the new lighthouse?

I thought it took a bunch of granite so I stood next to my granite stockpile but can't find it in the crafting menu.

It probably takes some kind of combination of rocks, planks and strings or torches.

There is also a rarely used item you'll need in order to build a lighthouse (but which still makes sense if you think about what a lighthouse is.)
If you want the answer given to you: sheets of glass

Volcanic islands usually come with lighthouses you can take. At least some of them are below 100 weight and fit into a boat.

I checked the thread announcing them and saw that it takes 3 sheets of glass, 3 poles, and a buttload of granite. I made 3 good sheets of glass ( one purple with aptitude ), built one, then dismantled it and tried again and got a green con one. Does the con of the lighthouse do anything?

Probably the quality (green-orange).

Right... does the quality of the lighthouse effect anything?

If for some reason you wanted to cook food on them, a higher quality Lighthouse would add a little bit more efficiency, helping you get a little higher result.. Not that much though.
