Choices, yes, but are they efficient?
What possible benefit is there to crafting/using a fire plough? A hand drill is just as easy or easier to make and is MUCH more portable with a 0.5 weight versus 3 weight for the fire plough. It isn't the durability, which is about 2xs as much for the fire plough. Is the plough intended for low lumberjack gameplay? Even then...

For that matter, after finishing the tutorial it quickly became apparent that there was no point in crafting a campfire. For just a few stones/rocks or a log more I can craft a furnace, anvil or kiln instead. For that matter, once you have a stone water still the campfire you're told to craft in the tutorial is moot. It certainly isn't based on portablity, with a weight of 15. If I need a fire in the wild I just light one on the dry ground.

Maybe it's just the way I play the game. I'm usually happy to spend a few turns crafting kindling and light a small fire when I need one for cooking (or, more usually, just use the one of the fires I light everyday in my still). Logs are super heavy and seem nearly useless to me outside of housing materials. Do other folks put a lot of effort into stoking fires and keeping them burning?

Maybe the way I play attracts tougher monsters earlier or something...

I started a new game and have come to realize that my ease in starting fires without worrying about logs is a BUG!

Can anyone reproduce?
1.) create wood flooring and place it
2.) set up a furnace, anvil or rock still on the flooring
3.) light a fire using only a starter, kindling and tinder WITH NO FUEL in inventory

My guess is that game checks the terrain tile and determines that it is flamable/fuel like wood flooring or a grass tile, so it skips the fuel check when lighting a fire. Then your house does NOT burn down because you have a "safe" fire containment unit (campfire, furnace, etc). Presto! Fuel-free fires.

Some choices are worse choices in Wayward. Like drinking seawater. I don't have issues with that specifically, although we'd like to balance as many things as possible. Just part of the learning process.

About the bug and your notes on the fire/stoking - 2.0.4 will fix some of this stuff up.

Fire plough is a lot more economic if you start in sandstone only island since you only get branches from dead bushes.

I usually upgrade my firestarter all the way to the bow&drill, with a weight of 5 it is anything but portable but it has a LOT of durability and is material efficent (3 sticks, 1 string).

A further, not as heavy upgrade with even more durability would be desirable though: Flint&Steel
Maybe something for when we have steelworking in the game but a Flint&Stone would work too, just not as durable then, though then we have 3 earlygame firestarters and thats a bit redunant.
