You're really going to like the torch variant then.

I thought it did. I'll have to make more to be sure, but the first few fresh tallow candles I made last night were all higher duration than the tallow torches.

ima a fan of sticks myself

sticks burn out way too fast.

As a note, I think I've confirmed candles last longer. the one candle I used had lasted for a hell of a long time... but these torches seem to run out noticeably fast.

im probs going to stick to candles now. unless glue can extend the life of a torch

You can just press check the decay timer on the torch and you will know tallow torch last longer than regular torch by about 1000 steps. Better if you have Hoarding mod on it.

but tallow candle is king

You can fuel torches with charcoal so aside from the differences in max duration if you get a really good one you want to keep using there's effectively no real difference in duration. You could use either for a million turns if you remember to fuel it.

Torches do more damage and I believe have more light radius but I don't remember the light radius offhand. If you get Illumination on either it doesn't really matter.

actualy a torch with max illumination may as well be half cursed =D
So bright hahahha

i perfer candles myself, the weight difference is big, and i like to plop a few down without worrying about picking up. so its easy to animal > tallow > candle
gathering the mats for cloth i may considfer for base or outa of a feel
glad to hear people also perfer the candle despite the light radius, difference of 1

ya, I dont like having to remember to refuel stuff so for me having to carry, or make, coal and checking on my torch level is just not practical. And what bearhide said. That wait difference too. the only reason id ever choose torch over candle is to fight ghosts.

If you "Build" a lightsource you can fuel it with anything that you can fuel a normal fire with, though there's a decent chance of creating/spreading a fire in the process. I think that chance goes down (a lot) with Camping skill, though.

Not sure if intended that you can throw a bunch of leaves on a candle but, you know, I'm okay with it.

I did that recently, dropped a bunch of compost on a candle, was kind of hilarious to see the candle still there even after hours of fire.

I toss all my older wooden gear on my campfire for the free fuel =D
maybe some corks, or peat farm but yeah leaves!
