Do penguins lay eggs? I do not like to switch from map to map and settle on one starting island, however, I made a quick expedition to a tropical and snowy island to recruit native plants for the collection. Walking along the snowy island, I came across a penguin egg and took it with me. Like a normal chicken egg, this ended up creating an animal, a penguin, which I occasionally domesticate. The penguin was tied so that he would not run away. Chickens in such conditions lay feathers and eggs, the penguin does not lay eggs. Unfortunately, now I don't have a lot of time to play, and I would like to learn from those who know, and not find out empirically - penguins generally lay eggs in the game, or I was just lucky to accidentally find, and also whether a penguin can lay eggs while on an ordinary island? Maybe if you let him go for a walk, or if there is snow under your feet (there is a small piece on the island with snow)?

Гуляя по снежному острову наткнулась на яйцо пингвина и взяла с собой. Как и обычное куриное яйцо, это создало в итоге животное, пингвина, которого я периодически одомашниваю. Пингвин был привязан что бы не сбежал. Курицы в таких условиях несут перья и яйца, пингвин яйца не несет. У меня к сожалению сейчас нет много времени на игру, и хотелось бы узнать от тех кто знает, а не выяснять опытным путем - пингвины вообще несут яйца в игре, или мне просто повезло случайно найти, а так же может ли пингвин нести яйца находясь на обычном острове? Может если его отпустить погулять, или если под ногами будет снег (есть небольшой кусок на острове с снегом)?

Penguins DO lay eggs. that's all i know at the moment.

No idea too. But I would try to let him go for a walk and feed him crowberries. And maby than, they can populate also the other biomes?!

I gave him food - it seems it was fish, or pieces of fish, it is still used as bait. In the beginning, I had too little skill to catch a penguin without food, so I definitely gave him food to drag him to the leash. I don’t remember which one. At the moment, I still let him go for a walk in the snow in a standard island, the chickens managed to lay 1-2 eggs during the same time, the penguin is still not there. And I don't think it's about food - snakes, spiders, chickens, etc. usually produce produce even if they are wild and not fed, well, at least I find eggs / scales / cobwebs outside of my farms.

Unfortunately, I do not know how often penguins should give eggs at all, but there is a suspicion that it looks like penguins do not imply breeding in a non-native biome, which is sad to say the least, I do not want to live in two houses, I will have to swim to the north through an additional stop - the desert is located immediately to the south, but north of the starting island, I have another island with a normal temperature, and only above it is the cold edge.

В начале у меня был слишком маленький навык что бы поймать пингвина без еды, так что я точно давала ему еду что бы подтащить к привязи. Хоть не помню какую. На данный момент я все же выпустила его погулять на снег в стандартном острове, курицы за это же время успели снести по 1-2 яйца, пингвин все еще нет. И я не думаю что дело в еде - змеи, пауки, курицы и тд обычно дают продукцию даже если они дикие и не накормлены, ну по крайней мере я нахожу яйца/ чешую/ паутину вне моих ферм.

К сожалению я не знаю насколько часто пингвины вообще должны давать яйца, но есть подозрение что похоже пингвины не подразумевают размножение в неродном биоме, что мягко говоря грустно, я не хочу жить на два дома, плыть на север мне придется через дополнительную остановку - пустыня находится сразу на юге, но севернее стартового острова у меня еще один остров с нормальной температурой, и только выше него находится холодный край.

But I have it now maby. So wikipedia says that penguins are laying eggs only after the copulation, where the man has to balance on the back of the woman. So that must it be. Give him/her a couple! And than maby he will start to lay eggs. Also try winterberrys. They are known for their aphrodisiacal effects.

Update1: I have settled in a iceworld now and you were right. They only want fish. Will start to go searching for penguin eggs the next days.

The snow platform has already been on the starting island, it is always there, as far as I know, just very small and deep in the mountains. 10-50 cells with snow, although now, thanks to the update with temperatures, this piece of the snowy world is melting by itself. Slowly, but alas, we have a warming on the island: (Chickens have already changed 4 generations, the penguin is still wandering alone.
It will be difficult to find a penguin egg - it is white, it is difficult to see it on white snow, I saw it because I was carefully searching the territory for the sake of new plants, and I had bad supplies, so I looked through everything very carefully, going around the entire main island I saw only one egg , but on the other hand, I quickly scout the area, so maybe the penguins need more time.

Пингвинье яйцо найти будет сложно - оно белое, на белом снегу сложно заметить, я увидела его поскольку тщательно обыскивала территорию ради новых растений, и у меня было плохо с припасами, так что я просматривала все очень тщательно, обойдя весь основной остров видела только одно яйцо, но с другой стороны я быстро разведываю территорию, так что может пингвинам нужно больше времени.

So in my first day on the island I indeed did not found any penguin eggs although I tried to very carefully spot on the snow. But in my nightly way back to my little hideout I stumbled into a penguin and accidently killed it. So I find out that you can obtain a huge amount of animal fat from their corpses and that their meat is very nutritious. Which means that, in terms of hypothermia I can stoke my fire to a good temperature also very easy with a penguin.
