Where does "bare" fit in the growth lifecycle?

The in game help says that the life cycle is gemerinating, seedling, vegitative, budding, flowering, ripening, and dead. Where do bare trees fit in this? Are they dead or will they regrow?

They are dead. They will only get in that state if they have already been partially gathered or severely burned
