Witch
Sage and Witch - they say that witch is more magic and sage more folklore...- well but the level up and chosing magic..is i think verrrry very low for the witch..in so many level ups over a lot of games..it was like a celebration - when she got +1 magic..in a level up...i think its a little bit low.. - i had more villagers and others getting it by chance than the witch getting it... - or i'm just unlucky over a lot of rounds and games itself?

I think it's more herbalism/gathering for the witch than magic. I agree the both the sage and witch have too low a chance to learn magic. I think there should be at least a 25% chance as soon as you get two of them to initiate a hex challenge. Probably at least a 50% chance after about 5 level ups as well. Right now you can get lucky and have them start high enough, but it's rare. In my games, I'm far more likely to have magic shields for warriors get me to a hex challenge faster than hiring witches/sages that have high enough magic. That just doesn't seem right.

warriors end with more magic than witches and sages - because of the weapons armor and so on..which are to heavy for the witch most of the time - even if she has the live of warrior or more...but not the strengh...and magic..well..items + warrior = better magic than witch - to sum it up

Nah, you can equip a witch with a dragonskin belt. Additional 3 strength is more than enough for very decent armor and weapon.

if y go for it...its more very late game..but still..its more common for a gatherer and warrior to get magic..than for a witch... - well its what i saw..until now..

And even with equip..she has only some more than the orthers..because the increase when level up is more than luck

One pretty cool strategy for magic buffing would be keep candidates in the village. When dark clouds are gathering over village, there is two more options other than huddle together: folk ritual and magic ward. Folk ritual is 2 skulls (intellect if I'm nit mistaken) and magic ward is 3-skulls Hex. Both of these options give magic and folklore two random villagers, and successful Hex challenge additionally gives 1 will to everyone in village. What's more, this event is quite common - not like tremors of course - but I usually get it at least three-four times during one game. Of course, that's not the only way nor is it reliable - but weak witches are safer behind the village walls anyways. And when you actually need their magic (for main quests etc.) you just incorporate them in your main expedition. And I noticed that positive events like this one are very common in village. Sometimes my resident villages even manage to exceed my main expedition members in strength, intelligence, magic and especially will - of course not counting building bonuses.

the problem is more: i often have witches with health naturally over 15-20 and getting a lot of every level up..(and herb knowlege..)...but they fail in there field which should be magic (well after there discription) ...but they aren't - health more than warriors, strengh like healers and often stuck with there initial magic knowlege... - i just think they should well live up a little more to there kind... - and getting magic ..well its bad that y get it more from events (and all ) than the ones who should have it.. - it would be like a warrior most of the time getting gathering - it would be more ore less a fail as warrior....

Seriously, magic is arguably the easiest stat to pile up in this game. A ton of gear has it, and a ton of events spam gift them to you. I do not understand the complaint here. If anything, magic is too easily acquired in this game - even on non-magic users.

...y don't get the toppic or? by the way events for getting magic are random, i had games where i entcountered only 1 for 300 rounds.. - and the topic is. that the witch is getting a to low chance for magic when level up...

I've only used witches once so far, but their magic growth did seem very poor. Poor enough that I havent build their structure since, in fact. Contrast to the the Yaga demon witch, who gets higher magic and high strength, making her incredibly useful.

I think witches should start either start off with 5 magic or have their growth rate boosted a bit. There doesnt seem to be much of a reason to build their structure atm. For the folklore you can always get a Sage instead, who you get with the added bonus of a chance at Scholar/Inventor.

Maybe a small magic starting boost, and for the structure a base chance to attract demons?

Baba Yagas are awesome. I only recruit 1 for RP and balance reasons though.

That's somewhat true, though many (maybe most) of the events that give you magic require you to already have sufficient magic in your party to start with. I would prefer sages/witches had more innate magic, and events would give less of it. But it is what it is.

mh gettin devils is more late game..well for me at least i normally dont go for the bones..but for the moonstone first and buildings and weapons..

y...they dont fill in there role very good, in the discription it is sad that sage is more folklore...and he gets it more often that the witch magic (which is in her discription) unfortunatly. perhaps the devs could change that a little

The RNG stat is sometimes very wild. My medic is 2nd best villager in gathering :(. It would be better if you could choose at least some. Level up and then choose 1 skill from lets say 2 class and 1 random? But this would require lot of micro managemnt so in equipment screen there could be toggle button to auto/manual level for each character. At the begining or at ceratin proffesions you would rather have greater controll and then simply switch it to auto when it starts to be more uncomfortable with increasing population. + make it in difficulty settings as an option (not to force it to all).
I would also like to have greater buliding limit - switchable in difficulty settings as you guys add new and new buildings.
