Name Pronunciation
Hey guys, English speaking linguistics major here. I was talking to my friend about this game and we were discussing the name of it. I can speak a little Russian, and I thought the name would translate to roughly "t-ay-uh" (тьэа), but I think I am horribly wrong. Can someone correct me? I thought it was in reference to some Slavic myth but I am drawing a full blank.

θi:ə is how the voice actor pronounces it, and not to be too snarky but I have to guess that if the fellow got it wrong, they'd have asked for a re-record. I also thought that Thea was more a Polish Slavic thing than a Russian Slavic thing, but I bet a question like yours would attract the attention of Khash or A'vee who would know for sure since it's their game ^_^

EDIT: Upon re-reading I feel like I missed your question entirely :/ The devs have said that the game is sort of a melange of Slavic myths from various roots. For certain the creatures in the game do not hew closely to any one consistent source. Here's a thread with a reply post Yuuki made talking briefly about the sources for the game: https://steamcommunity.com/app/378720/discussions/0/483366528917225042/
OK the link works in a web browser but not in the Steam client. I give up ;_;

It's written like Тея or Тэя, but it's not a Slavic name and there's no myth on this name as I know. Gods names are Russian Slavic, another names are more Polish Slavic. Sorry for my english :)

Some creatures in Thea also use their Bulgarian (or Macedonian) translation such as the Vodnik while the Polish translation is Wodnik. When I first made an event using the Vodnik I had used its Russian translation of Vodyanoy. I later fixed this to fit more in line with the games lore.

Yeah, I had a nice discussion with the devs about the lore and myths.

For some reason, it got stuck in myhead that it was pronounced something other than [θi:ə]. Don't know why that is. Thanks for clearing it up, guys.
