How can I play this game without a controller?
Sorry, this may sound dumb.
But is there any way I can play with a keyboard and mouse instead?

Step 1 : Unplug Controller
Step 2 : Run Valley
Step 3 : ?????
Step 4 : Profit!
This is one of those "trial and error" deals where I would just try and see if it works. So many people prefer to use a mouse and keyboard that I would think the devs would build it in.

I already tried running the game, but my keboard controls don't work properly as the game is defaulted to be used with the controller. I couldnt even get past the main menu because my mouse + keboard buttons would not work eg. I could not click Start Game, Options etc.

The only reason the game should default to a controller is if it detects one. Please unplug any accessories and try again. If that doesn't work, try removing any 3rd party peripheral software such as vjoy.

I definitely do not have any controllers connected to my pc, I don't even own any. I only have a keyboard, mouse and speakers.
I also do not have any 3rd party peripheral software installed onto my pc.
It runs normal on keyboard and mouse here...

It CAN be played with keyboard and mouse, or with a controller.

I played with a controller, and when one of the cats hit the mouse, it definitely responded, so you can even play a combination of the two~!

NEVER DO THIS! Always ASK the user if multiple control devices are detected. The controller detection is preventing me from using any part of the game's menu as it's detecting input that doesn't exist.
I have a steam controller dongle plugged in and I'm not going to remove it just for the maybe 2 games in my library that cannot handle controllers properly.

Yes, it is. I don't have the free time to mess around with controller configurations for a game I might not even like.

Punching a dead horse here, but I just played the game with my mouse and keyboard, whilst my Steam Controller was active and linked. I could switch between the two whenever I'd like, even mid-game.

You might need to disable the steam controller functionality for this game specifically. The option should show in big picture mode, or you can fiddle with the steam settings.

I ahve to start the game through the "Launch Config Tool" option or else it won't accept my keybinds. They are ready to go, though. I don't have to rebind everything every time.

Exactly. While in there, change the settings to suit you best...

Only just tried the game and already my thanks to people here about the Launch Config Tool, I never normally launch direct from my library.

Other thing is the game uses an inverse? mouse setting I move the mouse up and yet I look down, an invert mouse setting I believe? is used in some games for this but I cannot see it.

Maybe it's just my PC but is this the right way and is what happens for other players? Also it does not like having my Belkin Game Pad connected in the settings menu while in game, it just runs riot auto changing everything all on it's own but works fine in the main game which is odd?

i don't have a controller at all, never did, and it defaults to controller, and acts like a thumbstick is constantly pushed right
