At Focus Home Interactive, we've never tried this but... it may work :
- Create a new game on the Steam version
- Go the Surgery cutscene
- Once you awake with your exo-skeleton, quit to the main menu
- Delete the save
- Go to : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata
You will find several folders here : They represent the Steam IDs on your computer.
The right folder is the one where you’ll find, inside it, the number “378540”. Which is The Surge’s Steam AppID number.
- Once inside go to “Remote”
- Catch your Origin save here : C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\The Surge\save
- Paste the Origin save in the Steam folder above.
If it doesn't work, try again to paste your Origin save in the Steam folder but after deactivating Steam Cloud for this game.
- Open your Steam account, go to your library
- In your Steam Library, right-click on The Surge and go to Properties.
- Go to the UPDATES tab and uncheck the Steam Cloud sync.
This should work hopefully :)
With one slight adjustment: do not delete the save from the main menu after you created a new one, but rather create a save in the same save slot as on your Windows Store version and simply overwrite the file.
That worked for me.
The Windows Store version save file is in: This PC\Documents\The Surge\save
- open the new (steam) save and the one you want to copy (origin) in HxD Hex Editor
- copied the origin file data to the steam file and saved
- and also just in case, changed the "size" property inside the remotecache.vdf file to the new size after saving the steam file. i don't know if this changes anything to succeed the steps above but it's what i did after copying the data, and before opening the game.
[EDIT]: only copying the file made my current steam save disappear, even with cloud disabled.
