Be that as it may, speed alone doesn't leave much room for error. Rhino allows me to tank a few hits to the chest before I stagger, meaning I can dodge out of a combo which would stagger a lighter armour. The higher impact, when combined with a heavier weapon, means I can typically stagger enemies before they're able to respond and usually kill them before they get back up. And while, yes, the set bonus for Rhino is suspect, it does actually work pretty well when you DO have a counterweight installed. I was able to successfully troll Cerberus guards without too much issue, never letting them get a hit in after their first miss.
Again, I understand that speed is important, but I've found that the long reach of a larger weapon and the high impact of a heavier armour set can typically make up the difference. As long as I know the enemies well enough that I don't commit to an attack in the middle of their combo, there isn't a lot that can threaten me, at least not one-on-one. Doubly so considering how often enemies stagger on block.
I've never been a fan of fast, mobile tactics in video games. In the Surge as in most others, I'll typically build for the slowest, tankiest build I can find, and I honestly can't find anything too much better than Rhino for that. Realistically speaking, what are my options? Cerberus and Proeus aren't as "heavy," Ogre's set bonus is even more situational (to say nothing of how ugly the set is) and that's pretty much it. I haven't had the opportunity to play with the Tenshi Angel yet, but that's the other issue I have with those armour sets - their energy consumption does not justify their benefits. Angel, for instance, requires a good 12 energy more than Rhino yet offers very little in return.
Lynx is nice early game and can hold you into mid-game if you want. Liquidator is good for Biolabs and R&D since it lets you basically ignore the toxic pools and gas grenades. Eagle is nice for Boss fights since it means 33% more healing. Chrysalis comes a bit late to be worth bothering with in the regular game (since I prefer Eagle for boss fights anyway) but is great in NG+ since the heal on kill combined with an Agression Amplifier takes care of most healing needs.
I haven't tried the new Asclepius armor. It sounds ok although I'm guessing you need a fast weapon to take advantage of it so I suspect I'll still prefer Chrysalis, espeiclaly since I really like Single-Rigged weapons and building up enough energy to max out without killing your target is tricky with them. I figure it probably works better with Dual-Rigged or One-Handed weapons and maybe Staves.
Christ, 190 CP? I'm charging through NG++ atm, I am still at 130 and feeling like I'm cheating :)
On NG+ though, I fell in love with the Tenshi jumpsuit and discovered it looked amazing with the Proteus set, so it's become my main now. The enhancement to all health regen is a major plus since it apparently enhanced injectables and Aggression Amplifier, though I'm currently at 170 CP and slotting every implant I wanted is a bit of a hassle. I really am looking forward to NG++ when I can put even more implants on this.
Iron Maus!!!
Asclepius is the ♥♥♥♥. I cant get down with any goliath armor.
Again, largely a fan of Mantis, alongside using the MediVoltaic injectors.
