Big Sister is cancer
I've beaten all the Souls games multiple times including Demon's Souls and Bloodborne and this boss is actually making me not want to play this game anymore. I've probably made like 50 attempts at this point and it's just awful. The camera is the actual worst.

jep the cam is painful. other than that its not hard at all in my opinion. key is to unlock targets quickly and lock on again. at least thats my impression. you still need to find the rhythm for it though.

The frustrating thing is that it seems to be auto locking onto stuff randomly. Like I will unlock targets and then all of a sudden a few seconds later it will be locked onto one of the little laser arms (I don't even bother with those, as I waste too much health trying to destroy them). I can very rarely even get a good look at the main boss, so I kinda end up guessing when to dodge. One time I came to probably within 5 hits of beating the thing but most of the time I get killed within about 10 seconds of engaging with the main boss because I can't even see what it's doing or it starts spamming that move where it just rams you which is almost a one shot.

Hint 1.. move move move... And kill only one side of the 2nd stage
Hint 2... ignor half or all of the 2nd stage and go for the head.. You only need to kill that.
(and spoiler.. you get the V2 weapon this way)

The boss 2.0 weapon is definitely one of the best in the game.

The 1st stage is really easy - just watch the arms, dodge, and hit them once or twice when they are extended.

2nd stage just ignore the little welders and dance around the head. The camera sucks, but use something that has good overhead reach like MG Negotiator, move side to side and smack the head when it is low.

Slow/hvy weapons are not great for this fight IMO

This proves that beaten all souls games doesn’t mean good at beating souls-like game.

Used a twin-rigged (second boss weapon) setup with the armor that has less stamina consumption for dodging, stamina bonus and 6+3 health (instant+slow), the buff to twin-rigged weapons.
Stay around 75% to full back in the first stage to bait the "froze arm + thrust/slam to back" attack. Personally it always starts with the arm on the left and i kill it in one to two couple of attacks after the arm slams on the ground and stays put.
Usually i lock on the arm on the left, when it's on the ground i disable to lockon and attack, then lock on the opposite arm and see. If the other arm moves i instantly lock to it and so on.
If you are lucky, dodging the laser while in lock on and staying at 75% to 100% back it doesn't trigger other attacks that are more difficult to handle.
In the second stage i spam the arm on the left waiting to land on the ground to spam attack. Dodge+ heal quickly and move to the opposite arm then move fast at the base of the boss and spam attacks while dodging and healing when you see it move, and when it goes near the ground go to the side and attack the mini-arms.
You should be able to it like that. I was quite upgraded at the time and used not even half of the consumables so it's doable even with lower stats. I'd try to use the lock on as little as the first stage in that small portion of the "waiting for an arm to thrust" because staying in lock on is worse than not using it ;)

1) Go into settings and uncheck the "auto lock on" settings. This will help A LOT.

STAGE 1 - Hug the back fence. Jump left right to avoid arm jabs( out of rage of sweeps so all good.) I used single rig slide attacks and it took no time at all.

STAGE 2 - I eventually just said screw the V2 weapon and took the arms out. I started with front right and with a single rig, took 2 others out in the process from proximity.

STAGE 3 - I just jumped around close to his face watching out for his thrust. Once the first 2 stages are done relatively easily you should still have plenty of healing to get through stage 3.

I also was frustated at first but beleive me, the only hard part is the first phase. My suggestions

Phase 1-> Stay back in the middle. Read the arms movements. Learn to avoid being hit and counter attack each arm. Avoid the laser of course

Phase 2-> Stay back in the middle again. Destroy the back arms continue with the rest. Avoid being trapped by all of them

Phase 3-> Just avoid being hit and do your combos

I think this might be hopeless and I should just give up this game... the first phase is mindnumblingly boring to me at this point and I have been attemping to ignore the little laser arms because i often just die fighting those instead. I again got, after hours of trying, close-ish to beating this thing but most attempts end in me dying very very quickly. At this point I'm starting to not to even care anymore.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The game does tend to be rather frustrating, and Big Sister more so than most.

If you're not having fun, there's really not point in playing. That you're not enjoying yourself is a shame, but there's nothing to do about that.

Yeah I'm really not at this point. I am incredibly stubborn and don't like to be beaten by a stupid game but this is just getting ridiculous. This is the second day I've tried doing this and both I spent multiple hours at this one fight. I feel like this game has one level now: me destroying some easily beaten pincer arms and then getting obliterated by some stupid mechaspider within 15 seconds. That isn't a very good game.

I really don't even understand how I'm supposed to be dodging a lot of the attacks in the last phase. Most of them come from above where I can't even see, so it's just guesswork. Then she spams this thing where she just rams me which seems to be just luck if actually dodge it but usually not. I have watched videos of people just dancing around her attacks and I don't seem to be able to do that even remotely.

True, the game is heavily flawed. If you're not enjoying yourself, then just stop and don't waste any more time on it.

What I want to know is does the game actually go back to being fun after this awful boss?

I think it does, but it doesn't ever get any easier. Of course, I didn't have nearly as much trouble with Big Sister as you seem to be having, so you might not agree.
Antanca Mar 17, 2018 @ 1:58am
You know, not that this is a Souls game, but to draw the comparison, I feel like what makes even the harder parts of those games enjoyable is that they are designed in a way that makes you feel like you can identify what you're doing wrong and correct that with each successive attempt. This this, even after now I think over 5 hours of trying this one thing I feel like I'm no closer to understanding what I'm doing wrong. Up until now this game has been tough but I've managed reasonably well, but this is just unbelievable. This is quickly becoming the most difficult boss I've ever fought in a game. I see people saying this is easy... how the ♥♥♥♥ is this easy?
