Question about Demo size

Right now I'm downloading Demo. But because of my Internet speed sucks, it will take hours.

If I like Demo, I'm planing buy game on this sale. So here is the question. Is Demo version contains all required data? I suspect not, If it isn't when you purchase full game you download missing files only or download whole new game again?

Is the demo on the store page and does it say "The Surge (Trial) in your steam library? If so, then yes it will use the "unlock" model so you don't have to download everything again. If the demo is entirely seperate on it's own page then you will need to re-download it again.

When game launch, it says "Trial Version" under title. In my Library it says "demo".

Then in theory it should just unlock the game and download whatever assets are left. Since they removed the Demo button from the store page I don't know if it will still unlock the same but it should.

I'll do you a favor and buy the game to see if it unlocks with the demo. Been planning on buying it anyway, so wish me luck!

Update

So I went to buy it from the Unlock Full Game main menu button, and nothing happend from within the game (expected with how steam works). I exit the game and noticed that the demo entirely disappeared from my library after I spent 5 minutes looking through all of my installed games lol.

So anyway, it showed up in my Library just not installed, when I went to install it, it had updated instantly so I didn't need to re-download or even download any new assets and it probably just downloaded the unlock file.

I'm guessing the whole thing with the Demo disappearing from my installed games is a side effect of the devs removing the demo button from the store page. Thankfully the actual purchased license updated over the demo properly so no issues (so far!). Almost tempted to verify game files just to be safe heh.

yes, which is logical as they cant "change" the steam library like that. Meaning it wont change from demo to full version. Instead they have to remove the demo "button" and insert the full game "button" to achieve this change. If done properly this means no redownload, as it seems to be the case here. If not done well it means that the files for the demo are also removed and you have to redownload the same files.

I was talking about the fact that the actual Demo isn't listed on the store page anymore even before I purchased the game (you can still find it by searching on steam but it leads back to the store page).

The way we were able to download the demo was through steamdb. They removed the Install Demo button right around when they started this sale.

It's the size of full game missing less than 1GB. When you upgrade to full version you download missing files and all your demo progress is saved so you don't have to start over

Good new, after purchase steam will only download some patches about 200 mb and you're good to go.
