Does this have a gender option like Prey?
I am a huge fan of dark souls like games and this is heavily engaging my "I wanna play" drive. Do we know if this game has a gender option where you have a Male or Female Warren like how Prey has a male or female Morgan? This is pretty crucial as to whether I will play the game or not.

THE ANSWER: Nope, It does not. The game has one protagonist, Warren. The game does not have a female alternative.

Reader beware, The responses on this post are filled with people absolutely offended out of their minds about this question and my explainations.

No, there is only one male protagonist.

You can only play as a male, but you can choose which bathroom to use.

Eh brutal. I hate when game devs forget about 50% of the human population.

what do you do when you read a book and the protagonist is not your sex of choice? burn it?

Why? The game and story is based around a man. So you didn't play Tomb Raider either because that left out 50% of the population?

I just self-insert and identify as the flavor of the month.

Of course not. I greatly enjoy Douglas Adams' works and many other great authors. Video games are an interactive medium, you ALWAYS put yourself into the role of who you are playing and they are your avatar in that world. I prefer books or movies with female protagonists though, they are more easily relatable.

I could definitely see why men wouldn't like tomb raider, I am against that series having a female only lead as well.

You might do, but sometimes the story is being told from a Male or Female perspective. I do like choice also, but wouldn't ever boycott a game for not letting me choose. Gender of the character doesn't even come into it for me.

Edit: I absolutely loved Tomb Raider. Furthermore it had to be a female, it had to be Lara.

Not boycotting, I just know I won't enjoy the game. "This game has a mechanic that will annoy the ♥♥♥♥ out of me, I am not gonna buy it."

But why? a female character wouldn't change the gameplay in any aspect. I'm not mad or anything, just feel like you're missing out on some great games because of youre preference. Like did you not play Dead Space?

Dead space was incredibly hard for me to get through. I love horror games and that seemed like alot of fun but having to play as a male protagonist makes my skin crawl. Instead, I just watched my friend play through it all. Usually, now if there is a male only character, Ill have my girlfriend play the game and Ill watch her play (That... for some reason works ok for me).

also sadly, bought witcher 1 2 and 3, unable to play them. Ive heard they are great but I keep trying to but it ultimately leads to me getting nausious.

I think that's where your problem is. There are 2 types of characters. " Empty " ones and " Full " ones. The empty characters are just avatars, tokens that represents your " physical presence " in the virtual world. Those characters are " you ".

Then you have full characters, those you would find in traditional storytelling mediums. A fully fleshed out character that has it's own personality and goals. You take control of a full character but the character isn't " you " it's still the character. You can immerse yourself in the character, but the character is not supposed to represents you, you are supposed to guide the character.

Your inhability to make a difference between the two, creates your own lack of relatability as well as your problems with the identity of the character. This is why people cry and moan because a character is " identity " locked, not because it actually mattered in the sense of the plot. Take care of your own insecurities and issues and let others have fun.

I agree with you! That is very insightful. I am not telling anyone else not to buy the game though. I merely said that I would not enjoy the game if it is gender locked. I am confused about how people think this means I am attacking the game.
