PC HDR?
PC might not have Nioh, but at least we get The Surge. But will the PC version have PC HDR? I'm trying to decide which version to get since the PS Pro version will come with 1080p 60 FPS and HDR.

Not sure what you mean by HDR, but yes, this will run fine in full HD at 60 fps as long as your pc can handle it.

HDR is so rare in the PC gaming world that people don't know what HDR is. Pretty sad really. I'm probably in the .1% of PC gamers with access to PC HDR since I game on a PC connected to 4K HDR TV. Just let me put it this way, once you seen games in HDR its hard to go back to the standard bland PC monitor.

Looks like I'll be getting the PS4 Pro version, at least it'll be in 60 FPS.

first and foremost, HDR is a stupid marketing term which only serves to confuse people.

If you wanna know if the game will support 10 bit monitor then more than likely it won't matter if the game itself says it supports it or not because either way its gonna render.

If you're using a TV then I guess I can't help you there

I wasn't here for this but since the ignorance regarding HDR is so profound I gotta. Let me make this clear, HDR isn't just about 10 bits color. Thats just part of it. It's also about how bright and how many "nits" your screen and display in a scene and the contrast between bright and dark scenes.

Imagine a video of a torch in the darkness. In every case every you're just watching a bright scene or a dark scene. With HDR the torch itself will be so bright that it'll radiate light into the your living space against an inky black background. The result is the most realistic representation of fire you ever seen in your life because the "fire" is actually emitting light like a real fire would. Does that make sense? I can play games with 12 bit colors support on a 12 bit monitor and it'll still wont be able to replicate this effect.

In games like Mass Effect Andromeda and The Surge where there's glowing light source everywhere HDR is huge. Once you seen it, you'll want it too.

Using the acronym HDR was a pretty stupid on every party involved, as it causes a lot of confusion with High Dynamic Range.

What is this "new" HDR? Is it passing just rendering in 32+ bit color space and transmitting it to display device as is?
Lot of old games had an option to switch between 16-bit and 32-bit colors.

This is huge if true. But I doubt it.

Dude any game can be played in HDR on PC that is if you have the hardware to run HDR.

While I would immediately buy it, that sounds highly unlikely.

Yeah, I'm still on the fence and can't find information anywhere. This is so annoying, one would imagine there should be official statement concerning HDR support, but I guess I'm expecting too much...

Does anyone know if the game will support HDR on PC?
Maidiac May 12, 2017 @ 3:29pm
It doesnt launch with hdr on the pro. It is supposed to be patched in at a "latter date"

save the 20 bucks and get it here
Maidiac May 12, 2017 @ 3:36pm
And just to be sure you get my point, I dont trust anythig that starts with "its coming at a later date"

I have HDR as well and while it CAN BE very nice im not spending an extra 20 bucks on an inferior version in the hope that it comes at some point
