If you want a game to succeed in a foreign market, rule number one is not to expect them to all learn English. Chinese is spoken by more people than English is.
Translating games is as fundamental to a game as graphics are.
You try learning Chinese. You're skewed by the fact that you're European, and that in general, European languages are easier learned for Europeans than it is for a Chinese person. Germanic/Latin languages have absolutely 0 relation to Chinese.
I'm fairly certain translation is outsourced to a translation company anyway, by just giving them the text strings with/without context if necessary.
It;s also a tad bit cocky/hypocritical to say 'just learn English', cause whenever there is a hugely popular Japanese release, everyone in the West will scream 'English version please!'. Imagine the devs telling you to just learn Japanese instead. And this need for translation crosses the concept of market size. It's all about accessibility and availability on as many markets as possible.
You are right, it came over the wrong way and it was relatively easy for me, but i think humanity should start having an official world language so everyone understands everyone and english at the moment is the unofficial one.
Thank you, everyone, a game is an art of synthesis, hope good game company, you can put good art, carry forward the world! Seek common ground!
