If you play with a controller like most the jumping is terrible in a short space like this one. Use your keyboard to short sprint with shift then spacebar to jump. It's real easy and won't need to retry it multiple times like i did on my first playthough.
Guys don't spread rumors that are inaccurate, controller works as intended, only played it like so and had 0 issues. I understand it being easier for you to jump with kb+m, but the mechanics work just fine with the game pad, I never had an issue with that jump

I did the jump on the second try. I only failed the first time because I smacked my head on the ceiling before clearing the tunnel. I've determined that if you fail this jump and don't know why, it is due to inexperience with action-adventure games/third-person character control. It's not an issue with design.

Though, a caution strip or something on the ledge indicating "significance" to that point, so that the player KNOWS he's supposed to jump the gap and not seek an alternative route, would be really nice.

The only thing that's a rumor or inaccurate is you saying it is.

It's a tip if someone is having issues. Anyone can do it with a gamepad or keyboard as it was designed to work both ways.

You said it's terrible with a controller, I tell you it was always easy for me to do. I can't with a kb+m, but I don't say it works horrible

Using a controller, I make the jump after the sprint thought the exolift tunnel area, right before you'd fall to the lower ledge, and he makes it.

Lol he just got done saying something about "opinions being facts if you argue them hard enough", and there's an opinion of his stated as fact :-)

It's a opinion like your opinion that my opinion its inaccurate. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Now saying its a rumor, that's not a opinion. It's just false.

For myself jumping in the entire game with an xbox one controller is great. But in that one instance on the short shelf it's terrible. It's probably has more to do with the controller being wireless and my keyboard being wired and with a mechanical switch that's just giving a faster response and better control.

I play on PS4 and I had to remap the jump button to left trigger L2 to jump properly, the left thumb stick press L3 just isn't positive enough for fine control. If you miss go as far back and run jump at the step below the vent door, you can get back up with a few attempts rather than run the gauntlet to try again. When I di it I jump from the left most part of the platform 'cause he tends to veer right and miss the landing when I try it.

I never stated it as a fact. Only stated an opinion and a tip for those who had a similar experience as I did. Then he stated that what I said was inaccuarate and a rumor which it isn't. I never said it can't be done, or that it can't be done easily. Only that it was terrible in my experience vs my keyboard.

Not sure what you mean in the first sentence, or why this is going so long but:

You said controller is terrible in jumping, and I said don't post your opinion as a fact because for me it was a breeze, so it was for other ppl who would have had a hard time with kb+m

I use a DS4 connected via bluetooth and had no issues climbing and jumping anywhere.

Anyhow, point is if you really struggle with the one, try the other but both work fine
