If you hit the top of the vent, it means you jump too soon, if you step out of the vent and drop on the ledge, you're too late, easy as that
Edit;: Just checked the setting for K+M, hold Shift while moving for sprinting and press Space for the jump while sprinting.
Nope, nothings working. He doesn't jump forward much but rather straight down to the ground. No jumping over a gap, but rather jumping right down ... And I thought the Nier Automata or the Dark Souls 1 jumps were bad.
You will see what I mean when you try doing that on the ground, you will leap higher than the A dodge.
Straight down to the ground mean you've hit the top of the vent
P.S.
Seems like jumping doesn't really work after sprinting for me. But that only occurs in those vents. He just won't jump sometimes and I'm pressing jump. *sigh* Guess I'll call it a day for now after trying for an hour. I really don't want to try and get this junk on NG+ ...
Nope, he's jumping down immediately every friggin time. I'm close to just giving up ...
That backtracking and Don really makes me want to give up, damn. I doubt I'll ever make it. Ironic that this jump may be the hardest thing in the game for me. Even the levels and bosses are a cakewalk now, but this is something else.
So I just watched that video on YouTube. It's definitely a jump, double pressing the L stick, not the A dodge.
And you can try doing the jump from the ledge. Stay as close as possible to the wall, start moving forward, at the second step (approximately right at the edge) you should be able to perform that jump by double pressing the left stick real quick
EDIT: Yup, it's doable, since I'm no longer at that point, so I tried to do the jump on a different ledge while trying to stay as close as possible to the edge of the platform. No matter how soon do I press the left stick, the jump will only register when Warren finish stepping forward his right leg first
And I tried it from the ledge, which only made things worse. I'll try again tomorrow (from the ledge) ... hopefully.
Thank you, I'll go to sleep for now.
So, for anyone still struggling - if you use a controller, don't try it any further with it. Clear out all enemies on the way there and remap the jump itself to D (worked best for me at least and you can still change direction with using the mouse). If you don't make it from the vent, don't worry, you can really jump against the white ledge under the vent a few times or run up to it and jump and land on it again, so no need to always go up there again the whole way. I just had the camera facing back from me (to the direction I wanted to jump to, even if I didn't see a thing through it), sprinted for a second and pressed D for jumping immediately after it and guess what ... I landed on there perfectly!
Hope this will help a lot of controller players, too, since the only issue seems to be that Warren either won't do anything else than the low dodge jump with the controller or that the high jump is very hard to pull off (at least for me and only in that vent area etc.)
So, good luck to everyone else trying this!
So, the controller was at fault, since he won't jump that far for me when I'm not using the keyboard. I hope that made things a bit clearer.
Only failed the first jump because I bounced off the top of the hallway shaft lel
