[SOLVED] The infamous overcharge point jump ...
People who made the jump will know which one I mean - the one from the vent in the 3rd or 4th area.

So, is it doable with the Rhino armor? Are there any tricks? Is jumping from the lowest step of the vent stair better or from the ledge below the vent?

Please help me to find a way to reach this damn thing so I can quit for today and don't have to clear out all enemies again.

Also, I looked up a video and read other threads, but nothing does the trick for me. It's just as if Warren doesn't jump as far as he does for other players for me. It's just one of those dodge jumps and not a high one and when I don't move (like people suggest for that jump) I'm landing straight on the floor below.

Please, any advice on how to definitely being able to do this?

Big thanks in advance ...

It should be doable with every armor type. Just go half way in the tunnel and start sprinting (press L stick while running) and press the L stick again for the jump, if you're using controller.

If you hit the top of the vent, it means you jump too soon, if you step out of the vent and drop on the ledge, you're too late, easy as that

Edit;: Just checked the setting for K+M, hold Shift while moving for sprinting and press Space for the jump while sprinting.

Alright, also, I tried using A instead of the stick, since jumping doesn't always work with the stick. Welp, guess I'll have to try for another hour, but thanks, will try your method :)

Nope, nothings working. He doesn't jump forward much but rather straight down to the ground. No jumping over a gap, but rather jumping right down ... And I thought the Nier Automata or the Dark Souls 1 jumps were bad.

You will see what I mean when you try doing that on the ground, you will leap higher than the A dodge.

Straight down to the ground mean you've hit the top of the vent

I need to be clearer on the "late jump" part. It's okay if you step onto the ledge, if you're late, you'll just drop off it completely

Alright. But it really didn't look like he hit the top of the vent. This time, he didn't bounce of there and just jumped down. Thanks for still trying to help me, I guess it won't get any better than trying to not bounce off the vent top since jumping from the ledge below went way worse for me.

P.S.
Seems like jumping doesn't really work after sprinting for me. But that only occurs in those vents. He just won't jump sometimes and I'm pressing jump. *sigh* Guess I'll call it a day for now after trying for an hour. I really don't want to try and get this junk on NG+ ...

Nope, he's jumping down immediately every friggin time. I'm close to just giving up ...
That backtracking and Don really makes me want to give up, damn. I doubt I'll ever make it. Ironic that this jump may be the hardest thing in the game for me. Even the levels and bosses are a cakewalk now, but this is something else.

So I just watched that video on YouTube. It's definitely a jump, double pressing the L stick, not the A dodge.

And you can try doing the jump from the ledge. Stay as close as possible to the wall, start moving forward, at the second step (approximately right at the edge) you should be able to perform that jump by double pressing the left stick real quick

EDIT: Yup, it's doable, since I'm no longer at that point, so I tried to do the jump on a different ledge while trying to stay as close as possible to the edge of the platform. No matter how soon do I press the left stick, the jump will only register when Warren finish stepping forward his right leg first

I didn't mean that it's a dodge, but that he's just dodging for me instead of really jumping out of the sprinting. He's jumping down, no matter what, with both A and L there's no difference at all for me. Also, I meant that you can use A or L for jumping in TS - so it should be the same. But nothing will work.

And I tried it from the ledge, which only made things worse. I'll try again tomorrow (from the ledge) ... hopefully.

Thank you, I'll go to sleep for now.

The step below the door exit is the jump point, I had to remap jump on the PS4 for better response than L3 in order to do it. You can get back up onto the jump off platform by jumping multiple times rather than run the gauntlet every time you miss. The time I did it I landed on the seam between the two "blocks" the overload panel is on then jumped up, more luck than skill I have to admit.
Gameinsider1986 May 29, 2017 @ 3:07pm
Did it after 60 tries (4 tries after the high jump finally worked).

So, for anyone still struggling - if you use a controller, don't try it any further with it. Clear out all enemies on the way there and remap the jump itself to D (worked best for me at least and you can still change direction with using the mouse). If you don't make it from the vent, don't worry, you can really jump against the white ledge under the vent a few times or run up to it and jump and land on it again, so no need to always go up there again the whole way. I just had the camera facing back from me (to the direction I wanted to jump to, even if I didn't see a thing through it), sprinted for a second and pressed D for jumping immediately after it and guess what ... I landed on there perfectly!

Hope this will help a lot of controller players, too, since the only issue seems to be that Warren either won't do anything else than the low dodge jump with the controller or that the high jump is very hard to pull off (at least for me and only in that vent area etc.)

So, good luck to everyone else trying this!

I failed the first try from the vent and succeeded on try number two from the ledge. YMMV but the ledge definitely seems like the easier option to time right, the vent option had me bounce off the top edge.

I assume you didn't read what I posted last. I DID make the jump easily after it worked correctly and did it from ther ledge, too. My problem was, like I already explained a few times earlier, that the jump was always an evasion jump, but a high jump from sprinting.

So, the controller was at fault, since he won't jump that far for me when I'm not using the keyboard. I hope that made things a bit clearer.
gary.hop May 30, 2017 @ 2:27pm
I wonder, would using a dual rig, standing with back to the overload panel and doing the R2,R2,R1 combo backflip work? I'm mostly joking, but...
CazadorDeLobo May 30, 2017 @ 2:29pm
It might be related to frame rate, because I did it on the second try with absolutely no problem in jump height/distance, and I'm running it at 30 fps instead of 60.

Only failed the first jump because I bounced off the top of the hallway shaft lel
