Volatile Spectre insanely good against those leaping robot scorpion/dogs!
I literally just killed one in area 3 in less than 5 seconds using a Mk. II Volatile Spectre without any damage buffs or anything. Just walked up to it, blocked a tail attack, vertical attack counter, time-blocked a backflip attempt (which staggered it), another vertical attack counter, and it was dead, just like that. Two hits, 5 seconds.

I guess they are weak to Elemental damage because this thing does WAY more damage than all my other weapons against these, even though I find it mediocre against anything else. I just happened to switch to it on a whim for fun when I noticed I was killing these guys much much faster than usual. I'm not even particularly proficient at Single-Rigged weapons, but now I keep this thing as a Favorite so I can quick swap to it whenever fighting these guys.

If you are having trouble with these enemies, I recommend you upgrade your Volatile Spectre and keep it as a backup just for these enemies. Just stay close and block & counter all their attacks and they will be dead in no time. If they get far away, you can dodge to the side or jump (block + RS up) to avoid their un-block-able jumping attack (they make a sound and rise up just before they do it so you can see it coming).

Oh, if you don't have one, you get the Volatile Spectre from the first area of the game, in the poisonous part at the bottom of the power plant (maybe best to just bank your Tech Scrap and dash in and grab it and die if you are still early on in the game).

Later on in the game there is probably an even better Elemental-damage-heavy weapon but by Area 3 when you start to fight a lot of these guys I don't think anything else can kill them faster.

It does electric damage which is good against robots, including the ones that resurrect

Made a video showing how great this weapon is against these things:

I don't understand how that jump protects you from the charging attack

Yeah a lot of attacks can be jumped or ducked that you wouldn't expect, most charging/leaping attacks it works on. Just have to figure out if its the jump or the duck that's needed.

Yeah, I purposefully didn't in the video because I wanted to show that the Volatile Spectre could kill it in 2 hits all by itself, without even needing the extra damage from the counter attack. I actually used the counter attack to wake up the second robot because it does 0 damage if you don't actually dodge anything first before using it.
