First boss is broken
I'm completely stuck on the first boss. I've upgraded my gear up to the second level and I can't survive long enough to get past two orange health bars. That is if the stupid boss actually gets disabled when the orange health bar fills up.The boss also has super-cheap moves that you can't even telegraph. It seems to be about 25% of the time, the boss doesn't actually go down when the orange bar fills up. I keep whailing on the legs but nothing happens.

Edit: Just tried to face the boss again, and YET AGAIN, the stupid boss doesn't go down when the orange health fills up.

The sword attacks are impossible to dodge. There are also some moves that don't even damage you, they just knock you back.

I think, the boss who become hard is rogue process when you attempt to know all his pattern with just medi voltaic ;) I'm try and die on him actualy. Because I want challenging him and his patterns in a nice fight without vital injection. The other boss are far more easy.
I'm not sure i've the stamina to keep doing the gauntlet up to the boss for another 10 second try... Again, and again, and again... No scrap is useful for upgrades now and still I can't avoid him 80% of the time... Something went wrong in game design these last 5-10 years... People are mistaking relief with joy... This is not fun, it's dreadful... Sure, you feel good when it's over, but not for the right reasons...
A shame.. I like this otherwise. Would love to see more. But not when I have to waste so much of my time traveling to an outrageously overpowered Boss.
Is he really that hard? I died first time when he ambshed me and I had all of 20 HP left, but when I came back in he was like a pinata? He doesn't seem to have any way to attack under him other than via a very slow stomp move. He has some kind of missile attack, but because I was under him 100% of the time I never even saw it. (RIP best weapon upgrade).

Having the full set of Lynx armor with some HP upgrades should make this a walk in the park.
Lynx armor, stay between his legs and attack them, dodge when he lifts leg to stomp, keep attacking legs til he drops then attack body / head areas.

Do this about 3 times and he's toast; just takes patience -- I screwed it several times due to being overeager, once I relaxed it wasn't very hard. Good luck
I love, how there are people who will just scream "Broken and Unfair game" the first time the game wants them to think, and then a fellow newcomer will come along and just does exactly what you are supposed to on his first try.

Though I will stand up and say that the base combat mechanics in this game are ass. Plus that irritating scrap timer, and just really janky random difficulty spikes, (The paired Gorgon units in Lv 2)

PS. I really really really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate the scrap timer. It just makes navigating the awful ♥♥♥♥♥♥ confusing pathways to the boss rooms even more of a headache. Especially when you're new to an area and have no idea where the ♥♥♥♥ anything is.

Probably because the Surge isn't a very good game tbh.

It's not as awful as Lords of the Fallen, especially release LotF, but it just fails to live up to the Souls standard of quality. Look to Nioh to see a game that pulls it off amazingly.

Don't get me wrong. This game had potential. It's just that the developers seem fiaxed on the idea of "punishing = fun". Like adding a timer to pick up your soul stain or "poof" it's gone. Or that all the enemies are 100% silent before they engage you. (Seriously. How can so much heavy equipment make as little noise as the sound of a butterfly's fart?) Or locking boss weapon upgrades behind unknowable clear conditions. The game even "tells" you to hit Pax with its own missiles, but then punishes you for it.
not a fair point dude. i agree on enemies shouldnt be silent. that makes no sense. but the rest is not fair points. why? dark souls 1 didnt tell you you can cut THIS bosses or THAT bosses tail either. i actually like the idea of challenge kills. but the challenge kill should make the fight HARDER not easier like for example black cerberus does and also should be more creative than "cut the right arm off" nonsense. lords of the fallen had these aswell but the upgraded weapons there where mostly crap. i am glad they fixed this in the surge. the v2.0 are clear upgrades over the normal variants. like it should be.

also punishing = fun`? say what? souls is punishing aswell and this is game is heavly souls inspired. if it where not a bit of a challenge the games shortness would REALLY show. at first i tought the timer on scrap was unfair. then i finally realizied WHY its there. to give you even BIGGER rewards for your risks if used in the right way. now it makes sense to me. its almost broken how good this reward is tbh. its just another risk vs reward thing. albeit its currently not polished and too easy to abuse.

the game still HAS potential. according to that german dev boardcast someone linked on reddit they are still learning and getting the hang of this as they said. as they dont want to outright copy dark souls. and i think they are on a good path to get thier own take on the "souls formula" they admitted mistakes they did in lords of the fallen that they learned from and also mistakes in the surge that theyll think they could have done better.

they are a small studio of like 40 people only. fromsoft is way bigger by now. what we have for now is pretty impressive to me i gotta admit as i didnt have so much fun with a game since ds3 anymore. i want more of it right now basicly. if they dont mess up to crazyly i can see this becomeing its own IP with huge success (it will probaly never match souls in terms of quality anytime soon but its still way better than most other games and it targets the market niche that souls has shown as one of very few titles yet)

If it's any consolation, I discovered the first boss totally by accident... after basically clearing the entire first level on a sweep for scrap. I lost ~8k scrap (and this at a point in the game when a 1,500 scrap run was a good run). So yeah, I'm done with this game. Why they felt the need to trap you in that space with NO FREAKING WARNING. Total ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Cry more. Why where your running around with so much scrap in the first place? It's your own fault for not banking it reguarly. There are plenty of enemies around that will jump out of nowhere with no warning and that would have done the exact same thing.
Besides, you can always run back to boss area and pick it up again and try and defeat the boss at same time.
imagine believeing that 8k scrap is alot when you can farm 1 million scrap in 10 minutes without defeating the first boss if you know what youre doing. and that is by DIEING intentionally on top. so yeah. another case of "game not made for bad players"
