So timing seems to be a huge factor
It was something I saw on a loading screen after getting the crap kicked out of me again..

So I started waiting to hit the strike button until that sweet spot where your weapon has just barely made contact.. damned if it didn't make a huge difference too. Moves are taking less stamina, I swear it feels like they do more dps, and it seems to really keep the enemies in a near stun-locked state.

Any other little tips like this that any of you have noticed??

This game can be pretty ruthless at times, so every little advantage is welcome advice :praisesun:

If you practice combos, watch your stamina bar. If you time it right you'll see a little flash on the bar that seems to represent an optimal timing, and costs less stamina.

oh nice, I didn't realize that the bar flashed. That's really helpful for practicing weapons I'm not used to using yet.

Thanks Man

NP! I only noticed it after your post, so thanks :)

If you guys didn't know about that before, you probably didn't play their previous game, Lords of the Fallen. That mechanic was important in LotF too. The stamina bar used to flash in that game also when you did the combo with perfect timing.

Actually that was what tipped me off lol. I didn't realize, at first, that this came from the same studio as LoTF.

I know it wasn't a huge success, but I reall enjoyed it myself.
I literally beat LotF and didnt know about the stamina timing thing. I also ran with a "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thats a big weapon" build, so I tended to wreck stuff in a few swings anyway.

I have to disagree with you on the DPS thing.

Attacking before the optimal timing yields a faster attack speed, but of course you have to pay more stamina for it, which can deplete your bar really fast.

On some enemies I like to go for the inefficient fast attacks to stagger them before their attack gets through.

iirc you still attack at the same speed. the diffrence of mashing the key to attack agian and pressing it once at the right time is the diffrence in stamina.

Not for dual claws, at least. I tested it out and I have to pause a short time between every swing in order to get the stamina buff. I tried quicker than that, but the moves cost their "normal" amount for me.

Definite dps reduction for dual-rig claws if you focus on stam.

fast attacks and the slower attacks that come from holding the attack button down, both have combo timings. Tapping to attack for fast attacks still has a combo timer to the button presses, mashing it only effects the amount of stamina you drain

this is because you are hitting the second strike at the end of the stamina window.

if you try agian with lets say a basic R2 only going to the second move [ R2 twice]

you can see that the lower stamina window is pretty big, up to the point where even with a delay between each move you can reduce stamina. but if you get the timeing just right it will do the move as fast as if you spammed the trigger twice but with lower stamina cost

pretty much if you wanna have max speed and low stamina, you really need to know your weapon timeing. other wise you ither waste stamina or you waste time

Thanks Grotto, that's the perfect explanation of what I meant. Well said :praisesun:
