edge of tomorrow
is this edge of tomorrow? I mean... like... bulky exo suits... big weapons on the arms of the exosuits... you die... you do it again...? and pretty sure tom cruise is main character..

Absolutely. Though, fortunately, I don't feel like my character is covered in icky stuff at all times unlike in that movie. Or in Chappie. Or in any other Neill Blomkamp movie.

Funny thing is that Edge of Tomorrow totally messed up the story from the novella it was based on.

But in terms of aesthetics, I got more of an Elysium vibe.

The Author of All You Need is Kill (the book Edge of Tomorrow was based on) was inspired by the cycle of dying and starting over in video games. So the comparison is not surprising. Also, the exoskeletons form Edge of Tomorrow and The Surge both take their basic design from modern day exoskeletons.
