Dont know if most of you realize that cardinal quest 2 exact version was actually free for years on kongregate and armored games
My title says it all i actually started noticing so many flash games transitioning in to client based and being sold for absurd amounts of cash on steam while you could play and probably still can play same bugy version on mentioned websites for free :D

Yeah theres just one problem. Free-to-play games are made to be less fun by being way more grindy. So no thanks.

how the hell can rouge like be grindy and no it took you a whole 2hours to unlock all classes if your actuall turn based rpg veteran or even less so no grindines at all and game is actually fun i just dont know if this steam b2p version actually at leest have more classes and more levels, items etc... Which should most definitely be the case if they are already selling the product. And as far as grindynes goes,as I said earlyer it was pretty much the same as most of rouge likes have it only requires certain mile stones or achievments to unlock classes and extra weapons/skills and as far as i remember brawler/monk and dual pistol alchemist were OP as hell.

This gleeful "why pay when you can get it for free" outlook is exactly the reason that free-to-play games exist-- increasingly shameless attempts at extracting dough from a shamelessly stingy market. If you want to play good games, make it worthwhile for the devs to create 'em by purchasing their creations at reasonable prices. If not, then by all means continue to provide incentives for the further saturation of the market with free-to-play games shackled to the ground by timers, energy, and unfair loot systems.

That said, CQ2 is a great example of an honest f2p game; the Kongregate and Steam versions are functionally identical. You don't buy the Steam version 'cuz it has classes, levels, or items the orignal didn't-- you buy it because you like the dev's work and want to reward him for it.

In the Options there is an "Unlock All" button and you get Fullscreen on the Steam Version, but aside that they're the same product. I actually talked to the game creator about the "price difference" and he told me that when he put it on steam he put it here for the real fans who'd be willing to buy it. I also play my games in a private browser setting so nothing saves on CQ2 on the browser version.

I bought the game because I enjoy the work, and the creator. He's a smart guy and I hope he keeps it up :) I don't use the "Unlock All" button, but it is there for the steam users in case y'all missed it...

I played the Kongregate version first, but the game play is smoother for me with the Steam client so it's a much better experience. Plus I like supporting this dev, they released a Roguelike Game Blueprint on GitHub which I thought was very generous.

Oh I didnt know that, well i guess being a rougelike fan and to be honest I also dont have much time to play lately so I mostly just play rougelikes or similar games that arent built around time sink so i guess i could and should support them as well especially if they plan or already are working or more rougelike titles.
After all I did like and enjoy Cardinal Quest 2 about Blueprint I cant say I heard of till now so ill go check it out since im running out of such titles on my play list even though i have like 100+ of them but lets face it like good quarter of them are bad quality or not pure rougelikes.
So I would be really excited to see few good quality rougelike relises.
Till then i guess ill just stick to DS2-3 pvping and invading since DS3 story was so far the easyest of all the series and kind of a let down which you know if you are a fan and if you played the series.

On the other hand i would really appreciate if some of you could list few good rougelike titles even though and maybe evolve the post in to something else. Since I really didnt mean anything bad by saying what i said except that I dont agrea with such bussines models in the most cases but considering I already donated like 100 kong creds to them. Which is allot more then original game price as most of you know & just to be clear I only pointed that out for those people that arent familiar with KC price ratio.
Anyways with that said I know that I already did my fair share of supporting the team. Which brings me to a thought that It would be very nice if those who premiumed CQ2 on Kong would actually get the steam version as a show of gratitude, but since this two platforms arent really linked in any way yet (probably never will be) I really dont see this happening any time soon.
