I actually used Amarant a bit more for his broken ability to both heal HP and give himself and others free MP, but he's good against aerial enemies (e.g. dragons) and with throwing (or better yet if possible Power Throw-ing). His best Flair attack is probably No Mercy. I know I used it a lot. If you've levelled him up enough, Spare Change can be good as well. (For throws, make sure you're using something with a good base damage value as well.)
