You must be an incredibly low level. You can cast slow on him to help reduce his actions. Just focus Vivi a few times and then rip thunder out. Be warned as he'll use silent voice on Vivi which can be cured with echo screens. Also, you can steal a Magus Hat, Ice Staff, and even an Elixir from him. I just think your level is too low or you are under geared. Did you do the chocobo forest side quest and dig up the treasures on the world map for gear? Did you grab Quina from the swamp? Quina can be helpful if for no other job than throwing out potions. He has about 3,175 hp. If he's a challenge for you then I really suggest lvling up and/or getting new gear. The boss in Burmecia will destroy you if Gizamaluke is giving you a hard time.

i missed alot yes. when i play final fantasy i tend to ignore alot of stuff becuase i focus so hard on progression. im very low level my gear is kinda ok not the best and i didnt get quina even tho i went to where u get her. so im pretty screwed and im 100% not trying to start a new game

Also, grind to learn the abilities from the gears. This game let you learn skills. Also, go around and buy what you need, then gear them up. Always keep them on the highest gear unless you're planning to hardcore low gear.

One trick is using Soul Blade skill with Zidane when equipped with The Ogre weapon due will blind the boss.
You can see some items description pressing "1" and try use armors that can half water element damage.

Chocobo and hot and cold man, it's a pretty fun mini game.

I like to throw a tent at him at the start of battle, as doing so has a chance to give him both the silence and darkness status effects, removing his water spell from the fight entirely and making physical attacks much more likely to miss you.

That said, it sounds like you need to do some grinding.

You can beat him at literally any level, even level 1. What you need to do is equip Zidane with the Ogre dual blade from Lindblum synthesis, then use his ability that inflicts a weapons status effect on the enemy. It'll put darkness on Gizamaluke and from there he just won't be able to kill faster than you can heal. Hope this helps.

The best way to beat Giza casually is also the way us speedrunners of the game do it: By using a tent on it.

When you use a tent on someone in battle, it will heal all health and magic like an elixir does, but the tent will also yield a 50% chance to be bitten by a snake that inflicts poison, blind, and mute. Giza won't get poisoned but will get blinded and muted by the tent snake, making the fight much easier.

i found getting quina for the extra party member, really helped out A LOT. other than that, you can go grind in the general area outside of the grotto, might also be a good idea to hit the chocobo forest there, and get everything that you currently can. Gizamaluke can be one tough cookie. subsequent playthroughs i steamrolled him, sometimes it was hard to keep him alive long enough to be able to steal all of his items, one other thing is that make sure you are stealing from bosses whenever possible, many times they have equipment a bit earlier than you can get it from the shops in the game story progression wise.

I am redoing the game and best advice is before the gotto do a round up of all of the side quests that you can. hot and cold in the chocobo forest has a few digs that you can get before with lots of good items, getting Quina and getting some of his abilities by eating things. Use the south gate to heal your party and train up a bit and nothing will trouble you.
